Premium MemberHow I need you

I need you Lord in every way
But I underestimate how much I need you

I need you in every thing I do
I need you when I go to bed

I need you to sleep peacefully
I need you to wake up every morning

I need you to say my prayers
I need you as I set to work

I need you in every activity
Cause without you I can do nothing

And that is why at the end of every accomplishment
Or setback or delay

I say thank you Jesus
A response from a happy and trusting heart!

Some say we do not need God
In matters He has given us authority

But man is weak and bogged down with frailties
Eternally engaged with battles for survival

And so needs constant guidance
For by our own strength we can do nothing

To Be Well

A few ways to stay well,
3 ways to you I shall tell.

Believe in yourself,
it helps strengthen your mental health.

Stay fit,
Don’t just quit.

Eat healthy,
And keep your mind and body wealthy.

Address what you’re feeling,
Then you’ll know, with what you’re dealing.

Setbacks you must solve,
old feelings, you must dissolve.

Take care,
And on this note, I bid you farewell.

Premium MemberBlessings From a Setback

planning a fresh start
inky fog delays train ride…
life’s choices on hold

   while metro lamps fade
…a shadow appears on the lane
   with roses waving

 he pleads atonement
 beneath moonlit confessions…
 tears kissing my fears

along gleam of night
....prayers melt our love’s setback
 train’s jammed ride… fate’s gift

Premium MemberThe Final Setback

depression fleeing
she sits at her computer
MySpace has beckoned

sadness engulfs her
the supposed online boyfriend
laughs behind a mask

words like sharp daggers
whore, ****, and no one likes you. . .
her bedroom’s silence

the scream of horror
when her mother finds her hanged. . .
the final setback

a neighborhood mom
deletes the MySpace account
with the boyfriend’s name

*This is based on a true story I saw on Cyber-bullying. The culprit was a grown woman along with daughters the same age as Megan Meier (the girl in this story whose final setback was to hang herself when she believed it was her supposed online boyfriend who began the vicious attacks on her reputation at My Space). At that time there were no laws against this crime, and the hateful woman went unpunished. See more on the story in notes above.

Disappointing Setback

Six long months they worked
sixteen bright and eager minds
planned our art event.

Artists looked ahead,
painting, framing their great works
for our yearly show.

Then the day arrived;
charcoal, moisture-laden clouds
shed their dreaded tears.

Bullhorn blared the words
heard with sad and heavy hearts...
"cancel the art show."

Artists packed their gems—
lonely display fences stood
naked in the fog.

Work of six months straight
quashed by nature's fickle whim
to spoil our event.

Setback Regained

the stench of anger
extends into fuming words--
many hours wasted

until eyes meet gently
blinking, displaying--a smile
affection regained
