You are my life's apostrophe
The part that has always been missing in me
You're right where the hyphen used to be-
You are my life's apostrophe
Once a question mark was all I had?
And commas dominated my soul,
Semicolons; separated my dreams
And the ellipse was firmly in control...
Then you placed your brackets around my [heart]
Your braces around my {soul}
Your parentheses surround my (dreams)
You're the exclamation mark in my life so droll!

Such a grammar fiend, is this thing called punctuation.
A huge plethora of mind numbing aggravation.
Commas, periods and parenthesis too;
colons and semicolons; what's a writer to do?
In spelling, I used to make only straight A's.
Now I blow up spell check most every day.
I could avoid punctuation; write only Haiku,
but I'm no quitter; to myself I must be true.
My teacher always told me, "If you can't spell a word,
look it up in the dictionary." Silliest thing I ever heard.
All the words are there in column after column,
but, how to look them up, if you can't even spellum?!

THE QUESTION MARK
Our life-
A question mark it is-
Struggling
Into an exclamation point
To turn
But
After numerous battles against
A series of:
Commas
Semicolons
Colons
Brackets and
Dashes,
Exhausted;
Ends up-
In most cases-
A…period "." to
Be.

Today is the day
I perceive
That I am the absolute candidate
For quietus.
Today is the day
I grade
From the university of life,
My thoughts cease.
Today is the day
I lay my head on my bolster,
To turn it no more.
Today is the day
I accept
My rest a stone.
Today is the day
I let a full stop be placed,
After many, many commas and semicolons.
Today is the day
Roses, Petunias and Lillies be gathered,
And placed by my head.
Today is the day
Flowers are going to wither,
Death is mine.
Today is the day
The aroma thereof shan't cause me to sneeze.
Toady is the day
Possibilities end,
For anything and everything.
Today is the day
I live onus and life and passion,
And place my hands over my head.
Today is the day
I reach a dead end,
Today is the day
I lean,
Toady is the day
I take the honor of forever.
