The Smarter Man

We take great pride in our knowledge
Each generation thinking they are smarter than the ones before
The problem, it's a subjective egocentric perspective
There's an air arrogance that's hard to ignore

Modern man truly thinks he is smarter
Than all the greats who have been adored
They self-righteously say “they were ignorant”
“We are more sophisticated than ever before”

We see religions following cultures
Science has become subjective, selling feelings as facts
It appears man is the true measure of all things
We’re creating a world we can't give back

So, how do we overcome a life
Where we say we're blessed, yet in so much pain
The level of arrogance and avoidance
Punctuates the fact - most people never change

We've come to a precipice
Do we climb the mountain, or be content as life goes by?
We have to be willing to pay the consequences
Sit on our ass, or intentionally engage in life

Like an hourglass of sand
Who’s tiny grains have run dry
We can only hope for a better day
Perhaps we’ll have another try?

Premium MemberA Country Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand

Thunderbolts split the stormy air.
The campaign for president heats up.
Insults and curses, accusations and lies,
Hate and confusion, poisoned barbs
Aimed at and finding a mark,
Only to be retipped and redirected
Toward the original sender.
Racism, carefully disguised
As safety precautions. For whom?
Religious intolerance in the guise
Again, of our country’s safety,
Deliberately misinterpreting the facts.
Religious zealots posing as victims
So they can self-righteously
Deny others their religious freedom.
Party set against party,
Candidate against candidate,
And people more and more divided.
Whose rights are right, whose are not?
What are rights and what are not?
Deceits and insults the game of the day.
Who can prove the other to have
The most fatally flawed character.
Gone civility - plain and obvious facts
Hidden in a manure pile of lies
Poisoning the air, poisoning the minds
Of those who listen but do not hear,
Of those who see not what is the truth,
But only what they choose to see.
Following the Pied Piper to …….?

We each and all have, I suspect,
a universal rightbrain multicultural awareness
that patriotism
risks degenerating into leftbrain fascism,

Isolating nationalism
self-righteously defending militaristic ego-supremacy
and patriarchal privilege of an apartheid State
moving toward fear-mongered isolationism
supporting competitively debating
predative politicization
of self-made capitalism

Rather than recognizing our solidarity selves
as nations resting and wrestling
and co-investing
on interdependent continents
articulating green/blue loyalty to Earth
and no less nation
or solitary incontinence.

Soul To Repast

In reference to nothing
Alone with itself
The truth burns in fury
Damnation to melt
Its legions are many
Believers so few
The stragglers all freezing
And lined in the queue
The mirror the liar
Death hiding within
The priest the deceiver
Who threatens with sin
But truth holds dominion
Setting fire to the throne
Rising above and beyond
What's self-righteously known
It calls to you silent
As it calls to you loud
Do you hide in the shadows
Or answer back proud
That thing that you reference
From your prison within
Those things done in deference
Now caught in the wind
You lie as you bargain
You cheat and defame
One voice now your jailer
And calling your name
Your back to the altar
You hide in the pew
Before robbing the poor box
A new low for you
Your history tarnished
And legacy shot
Your name ill-begotten
From all you are not
But truth has no time stamp
No ticket to claim
One choice will release it
Life starting again
Your mortal days finite
You have to act fast
Will you ask for redemption
 —your soul to repast

Your Soul To Repast

In reference to nothing
In search of itself
The truth burns in fury
An iceberg to melt

Ride the wisp of the wind
And you lie as you bargain
You cheat and defame
With the truth now your jailer
And calling your name
You gave at the altar
You gave as you knew
You gave what you’d stolen
From those poorer than you
Your history now tarnished
Your legacy shot
A soul black and burnished
From all you have not
But truth has no time limit
No ticket to claim
One choice will release it
Life starting again
Your mortal life’s finite
You now must act fast
Will you ask for redemption
Your soul to repast

Standard Barrer

Do you know people who use themselves as the standard barrer. They think anyone accomplishing less the them selves isn't working hard enough. Anyone below thier levil in society is unworthy. They experiance jelousy when someone perceived less acomplished has greater success, income or recoginition. Anyone they percieve as below them is a topic of displeasure. They are the standard barrer and self righteously so. Being indignent and wilfully ignorant is their identity. Know them and be not judged.

Pot and Kettle

“You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips,”
                  the Righteous Brothers self-righteously chirp.

How did the brothers even know
that their girls' eyes were open
                                unless theirs were open too
                                 during that aborted scene?

                            ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling’
                                 nice tune but crazy wording,
                             Cynthia Mann and Phil Spector!

                                           Pot and Kettle
                                           is a better title,
                                           says Don Cool.

Day Dreaming

Sitting in my room
Wondering about life
Why does god make us fall
For someone we can't have?
Now they say there is a reason for everything
But I don't see the logic or reason in this particular thing
Isn't this just going to leave me even more confused
than I already am?
Falling deeper and deeper
knowing in the back of my head
the landing won't be soft
But of course here I am
Day dreaming about him
Not a envious or jealous bone in my body
I am content with my imagination running
Just as long as he can be happy
This in it's self is a statement
I am self righteously unselfish
There are aches I can't mend
There are day dreams I can't Prevent
So here I sit lying on my bed
Trying to sleep but all I see is him
In the patterns of my ceiling
Him in the trees blowing outside my window
Him forever embedded in my mind
I say it's unfair to make me feel this way
For someone I can't make mines

Time For Equality

Alright you guys, just listen up, it's time for me to vent.
The day has come to recognize, somehow we must repent.
For centuries now, we've acted as, we are much better than,
our counterparts the girls and gals or a.k.a. WOMAN!
They wash our clothes, they cook our food, keep clean things round the house, yet still somehow we all believe that we're the supreme spouse.
Baloney, that's a bunch of crap, it's time to tell them all,
so get up off you're your BIG fat butt, and turn off that football.
Admit to them, for once for all, as hard as that may seem,
equalitys' found a brand new day, a day they should redeem.
Their dignity, their pride, their trust and all that we've assumed,
that once was our's to have and keep, self-righteously entombed.
They brought our children to this world, and labored major pain,
while we felt slighted .... 'er lack of sex, how dare they do abstain?
They truly are our equals now, so guy's let's all admit,
they always have been all along, because of gender split.
Just stop and think, what would you do, if all of them weren't here?
Imagine living Man to Man... My God, Good Grief, .... Oh Dear !!!!!!!!
