My watch required a battery;
My husband took it to
A brand-new shoe repair, whose sign
Said that’s one thing they do.
He called me on the phone, upset,
To ask me if I knew
That the watch’s crystal had a crack;
I said it wasn’t true.
It seems the owner, clumsily,
Committed this snafu
But claimed that’s how he found it
And twelve dollars now was due.
My husband took the watch and scrammed
Before some punches flew.
He didn’t pay a cent
And left the owner there to stew.
The lesson to be learned is this –
We never have a clue
If we can trust a stranger,
Who may sometimes turn the screw.

At the time he wasn't being bothered
his help was long gone
they were on the look out
and he stayed away got away
for them never wen't as planned
he wouldn't ask for help necessities
the thing's to get away
and as time passed people
people passed the time
and new's fled
as old time new tin types show up 22 that I observe
the people's choice is crowned king with Gin
music fun and dancing
all in once again chip hand gun shot wound
he scrammed and all the meanwhile
he was on his way to a crazy lavindish silly lifestyle

beach day
I play
no turf
go surf
offshore
no oar
ocean
motion
I took
a look
I saw
a maw
sharp teeth
unsheathed
bright white
large bite
shark bait
my fate
I swam
I scrammed
faster
faster
faster
passed her
freestyle
sea mile
achieve
reprieve
ashore
before
dispensed
past tense
some fun
I'm done

Poured a wee dram for my friend Farmer Fred.
He just kept on shaking his head.
What’s with the head I inquired of Fred?
Sit down laddie for ya might just swoon,
When I tell ya what happened to me this very afternoon.
Whilst selling my wares down at the fair,
A lovely young lass with a head of red hair,
Wandered up and gives the wares a stare.
I greeted her in my customary way.
Good afternoon lassie you look lovely today,
Might I help you in some particular way?
Now she looks up and gives me a scowl.
I judged her humor t’was a bit fowl.
I thought I might brighten her day
With a grand compliment paid.
Lassie your hair is both beautiful and grand.
Then her scowl scrammed, and she began to howl.
Called me all manner of beast and pariah.
Her face turned red as if it were on fire.
Minutes passed before her tirade did expire.
Made me regret the cordial things I had said.
I sincerely hope that lassie is never wed.
Ill tempered heifers should never be bred!

The E(n)dge
I leave damp mudprints
there where I met the shore.
The dragonflies' dances,
the goslings scrammed,
and I for now (or 'lo, for once)
exhaled. Edges do that.
A turtle somewhere spied me
not spying a frog; quick to leap.
And splash! My eyes follow my ears.
A biped clown, here at a threshold.
A stronghold of thrushes.
And red-winged blackbirds...
briefly visiting tufts and reeds.
When I go I think it likely
no memory of me will remain
no indication, no story, no song.
But where my callous kissed
the muck.
Invert puddlings, concentric whorls.
A fish somewhere, like I,
determined to visit an edge.
Marks with its 'foot'prints,
lips breaking the tension,
A visit to the start of Sky...
now gone.
We each leave our prints.
We leave each other's
memories,
in time.

Across the land
There was a man
Whose journey had just began
And due to a decision that was bad
He lost all that he ever had
While feeling his most prized plan
Slip through the palm of his hand
Faster than sand
He was briefly sad and mad
But then became glad
When he was able to understand
What was done wrong, and how he can
Reach the goal and help his clan
It wouldn't take a couple hundred grand
Or to be sponsored by a well known brand
Nearby a dam
His skills and knowledge started to expand
While starting to scan the entire span
Many insects scrammed
As well as a ram and a lamb
Above a stream filled with crab and clam
Far away parked in a lot was a sedan
And minivan
Nearby you could see an area full of water where many people swam
Whether they jumped in, walked or ran
Traffic jams
And braked being tapped or slammed
People only out to scam
With shams
Some content looking for gems and gold with or without a pan
And others only concerned with glam
Or famous people's and their own instagram

The beggar’s slippers were new;
And the turban around his head too,
So I still kept the coin.
Strange was the woman; strange was her beggin’,
With no word, but munching nuts a mouthful.
With a child on her hip, walked the slothful.
Indeed, I liked her not, and remained like a stump.
In a rugged clothes begged a tiny temp,
With his withered hand stretching high,
From outside the bus, whining to the sky.
I wasn’t ready to toss the coin to the teddy.
On the floor moved a creepy-crawly.
Flimsy and tipsy seemed he.
Tinkered he, his lips, when there were slips,
With a dripping grin- the outcome of a gin.
He bowed; and he scrammed.
Only that he was a fraud
Was what he had proved.
Then there no more beggar for the coin…
So was it mine?
