TO RIVERS OF BABYLON AND ZION SHORES next (Apropos Of A Nona Tanka)

Be aware of this,
We’ve all survived worse:
All ethnicities;
Present day oppressive times
Will also be overcome:-

We’re not a kingdom,
All here are here equally,
And destined to be:-
These oppressive times today,
We must send them on their way:-

These Babylon days,
Shall likewise be cascaded
Into liberty:
We are of Zion sailings;
Liberation shores waiting:-

Come, Babylon child,
Let’s rise up and set our sails;
A new day coming:
We conquering these waters
Of Babylon with justice

Rise up my people,
We have sailing chores to do;
There’s no resting now:-
God’s chartered the way for us;
It’s time to get back on course:-

God’s navigating,
Let us just get to sailing;
The shores are waiting:
Let waves of change froth us on,
With God's wisdom and guidance:-

Remember Zion,
God’s the wind in our sails, too;
Let us sail onwards:
Sailing the ancestral way,
To justice and equity:-

Time to hoist our sails
Into coming winds of change
Sailing likewise waves:
Oppressive Babylon ways,
Daily splashed with Zion froth:-

Stunningly scampering snowy week sailings soar
Kinesthetically hovering more and more
Incredibly intriguing impressive chill thrills,
Ineffable curves and crawls betwixt snowy hills
Normal natural, yet, novel navigations
Gorgeously graceful with groundbreaking gyrations...

Calm

Tumultuous troubled fiery sea,
None else but the assailed can see,
Encroaching on the mind's stillness,
Ravaging its foundation terse,
Undesirous are the elements,
Each day's pursuits and sailings vents,
Come to your rest Oh! Vex tempest,
Let silence take the stage and nest.

Life's billows come in cleft sizes,
Life's vicissitudes as prizes,
Many are what we can't vision,
Hidden are their intent mission,
Unruffled are the ones who stand
daily to wage against the bland,
Life, like the tidal wave, has bouts
of successive rhythmic routes.

New Year's Cruise

New Year’s Cruise
By Rick Rucker

Last year started out somewhat unclear,
A few sailings with the one that I now call “Dear,”

Spending the time that we have together,
Finding out, not when, but whether,

We would live our lives united,
If we would still be excited,

To see each other’s faces,
The whole package, from hair, to laces,

For each to hear the other’s laugh,
Perhaps, at a social gaffe,

Our journey seems to have begun,
Down that path, that ends in “One,”

A walk that takes but a minute,
But with so much meaning in it,

A few words, a simple “I do,”
Endless bands that bind the two,

Let me dispel all confusion,
We labor under no delusion,

Having been to this show before,
This time, we both need more,

A union which is some of this,
And some of that, sealed by a kiss,

To the extent that anyone can,
We have formulated a charted plan,

Which will take us through the tears,
For, oh, maybe, fifty years!

We know it will not be all smooth sailing,
One, or both of us, might be ailing,

But, before it is too late,
I wish to sign on as her new first mate!
