In the dark the creatures come out
It’s that time of year, some do shout
The creepiest ones come out late
Living in shadows they wait no doubt
The darkness is the most extreme
When you walk alone it seems
There are no other people alive
That would risk the darkness like me
I love Halloween, and it sure does show
I follow no one’s way, for that I know
That my heart allows me to live
With what people want to see, and to grow
My soul lives within the nighttime hearts
Everything that it does show or impart
I belong with the darkness and its show
I want to be there when the darkness starts

Bereft of Halloween exposure gain
in a family where such is inane
alien to her, but curiosity prods…
since truth she seeks beyond trickery stain.
Readying herself for challenging bout
she must triumph over attacking doubt
midst reality of souls, sucking blood
in their scheduled children abduction route.
With cautionary zeal, she strives to wait
perhaps lurking vampires today are late
yet, she prays as fear starts gripping her heart…
smiting the feeling of paralyzed state.
Propped by courage from learned Bible story
she dismisses thoughts against what’s gory
cognizant of diabolical schemes
Satan keeps sowing for evil’s glory.
Now, feasting on the peace* of God so sweet
she praises Him for secured love complete
indeed, grateful for bestowed hallowed win
to celebrate while sharing kindness’ treat.
*Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

Our Labor Day has come and gone, and now
it's back to school for kids, and yet somehow,
most think our summertime has bid goodbye;
but it has weeks ahead to shine, endow.
Our eyes can see green leaves still on the trees;
more time for walks in parks and picnic sprees.
The sun is warm most days, and nights still lend
more daylight hours for fun that we can seize.
Oh, days of summertime, your stay's cut short
by our assumed events that must abort
'earth's calendar' to acquiesce with needs
in planning our lifestyles, which do distort
dear nature's timetable of seasons' bliss,
when warm, delightful days we do dismiss,
because our mindset is to move along
ahead of time, not caring what we miss.
By end of our July, the stores are filled
with Halloween, Thanksgiving...overkilled.
No wonder our minds shift to autumn scenes,
and summer days lay waiting, unfulfilled.
'Haste does make waste', a classic adage says.
Let's stop, enjoy each season, it's full phase.
Our summer is a gem bestowed by earth...
its wonder does shine thru September days.
