Row your boat,
Dreamy float,
Row gently,
Merrily.
Crystal stream,
Summer's sheen.
Shore speckled,
Rose petals!
Drift through blue,
Sky's with you.
Dark green noon,
Bower tune.
Row, row, row,
Geese follow.
Go gently,
Blue daisies!
At bronzed stream,
River queen.
Soft pink clouds,
Bright hued crowds.
Hummingbirds,
Speak no words.
Peaceful dream,
Color's scheme.
In my eyes,
Hued surprise!
Row downstream,
Trail sunbeams.
Frog lilies,
Life's pretty!
Lazy days,
Green blue jays.

Patience is a virtue when casting a line
One never know how many damn times
Fishing requires drinking
Sitting and thinking
Catching fish doesn't enter the paradigm

The Golden Rowboat
Down at the dewy dawn of eternity.
My true love fondly waits for me.
With a bouquet of red roses in his arms,
My Greek Adonis, who kept me from all harms.
A golden rowboat, made just for us two.
To slip away and live in God's eternity together.
Adieu, my kindest friends, adieu!

I don't need mawkish photographs to see
the drowning rowboat tethered to the dock,
a withered seahorse clinging to debris
as umber water seeps through feeble caulk.
The cord grass will have grown up through the planks
to marry splinters teeming on the pier,
putrescent pillars tilted by the banks;
a pallid corpse beside the marsh's bier.
Those summers when we sailed through brackish mist
have long since gone the way of floating sculls
that languish in the asters to be kissed
by empty oarlocks perched atop their hulls.
Your August ghost still flounders on the fen
then sinks beneath in nightmares now as then.

There alone it sits as rippling waves sway
As each one hits there sitting in the bay
It has dreams this little old rickety vessel
For oh! what all seems, within its own will
But it's anchored the ocean being so vast
Not being secured that boat wouldn't last
Storms so rough full of powerful waves
All that stuff comes of what one craves
The others around are often on their way
Saying all that they found as here I stay
Looking at the horizon jolted by the wake
Missing out on the fun oh for Pete's sake
With a sudden gust that anchor untied
For all he lust this little boat now tried
Down the channel and soon far out to sea
What he couldn't see is now he wasn't free
Soon it was the night with nothing around
Picturing a sight when he was safely bound
As the waves grew and that boat was tossed
As like you never knew this boat felt so lost
When a Light came as I was about to sink
He called me by name saving me in a blink
Bringing me back Home, He anchored me tight
So I wouldn't roam always being in His Sight
Hebrews 6:19
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and stedfast,
and which entereth into that within the veil;

Rowboat
I row and I row
In only circles I go
Then, I stop and float.

A storm rages within the sea
A storm rages within you and me
Crest after trough we persevere
In the face of surmounting fear
Through the tempest
Against the rage of the waters
Our rowboat struggles
Yet never falters
In the midst of this horror,
All our hopes are made clear
With these five simple words:
“I’ll row and you steer…”
For Jasmine...
