Flicker Fall

O parachute, thy rider.
How to keep one aloft?
Spread thy edges to defer!
He who squatted coughed!

Unity, sing in unison.
Each louder than the last?
Vittle, side with venison?
Legs in traction plast!

Thus refuted, O my rock?
Lines around in chalk.
Broken is the bowl, O block.
Corn, thy tattered stalk.

So you've been feeling stifled?
Just flicker as you fall.
Soldiers, how you rifled!
O banshee, how you call!

Ghoulish was the repast grim?
Crater, nurse thy rim.
Light of harpsichord, draw dim.
How about her or him?

Rain on us, O lightning!
O thunder, now to roll!
Fain would it be frightening?
Soak in gin, my soul!

The cone or the caldera?
What kind of choice is this?
Ergo, O my era...
O death gods, blow a kiss...

Premium MemberThe Wall

The wall of russet brick, which, once resplendent,
ever crumbles leaving gaps; a toothless grin
slicing landscape. No longer the defendant
between the plebeians and the crown within,
the ancestral barrier is at death’s door;
rifled masonry builds shelter for the poor,
bridled meadows slowly overgrow the rest;
a child skips oblivious across, now blessed.

Premium MemberThe Unique Antique Shoppe

The curiosity shoppe
Was the place to stop,
For something unique
... A rare antique

With floors that creak
A treasure in itself,
Amongst the keepsakes
Lining each and every shelf

Under layers of dust
Upon layers of rust,
Hoping to snare
... A buyer's stare

Leather-bound books stand
With their titles erect,
Rifled through by many a hand
Now showing signs of neglect

A belted steamer trunk
From a ship that sunk,
A top hat for the gentlemen
An inkwell, a fountain pen

Here and there, a lamp
Was always dimly lit,
By an old rocking chair
Where someone used to sit

A delicate China doll
With a painted smile,
Next to dainty teacups
Stacked in a pile

Open for business
With an eclectic mix,
The Unique Antique Shoppe
... Closes at six.

Premium MemberShifty Eyes

Shifty eyes, hidden agenda
Voice of conscience stifled
Endless desires, new addenda
Worthless objects rifled

Spiralling confusion
Dungeons of delusion
Until head-heart fusion

Our heart sighs
Shifty eyes

Fighting With An Unexpected Guest

There's a tiny monster gliding in the air
Whoever you are, it shows no spare
Swiftly quaffing the earth's unstained blood,
it resolved to bury a raft of bodies under the pleading mud.

Missiles are aimed at an eclipsed enemy
Trying to discover home in this endless journey
Warriors are rifled with
rigour
Not caring for a cut or a blister.

School drums went dumb
Town fairs said no welcome
Smiles and lives are masked
Tears and fears are hiked.

A son was buried while his mother quarantined
A husband died miles away leaving his wife estranged
The empty stadiums engulfed the players' sky-high spirits
Innocent lives are turning to dust every few minutes.

It's transient my child! It's all transient.

Short-lived are these strong winds
Ephemeral are these hot waves
Cry not in the dark night
Smiles re-bloom upon winning this fight.

Every bud blooms after the rain as a norm
It's time to be an eagle and rise above the storm

Premium MemberBarking Bird

I stand awkward and unsure
So different from the rest
Unaccepted and rifled with ridicule
Uncomfortable yet hoping to conform
A fate that feels so wrong

I struggle to fight the urge without intent
A path I forever lament
My tribe will love me if only I can find
Those common attributes they say will forever bind

Yet, there is a different path I pursue
Bold and true to myself I burst through
Realize my destiny and prove to be great
Never looking back but only within
Being different without fear for its my fate

There are no barking birds
Unless I choose to be first
I so choose
To be a lone barking bird

Worng Trust

One wrong trust
With dagger, my heart got thrust
I died not, but got lost
Become a living ghost

Lost in trust
Enemy playing friend
Banana cloth tossed on my destiny
Wanting my demotion to trend

Infected me with a flue
Then rifled me to the blue
Birded away with no clue
With nothing than the left shoe

Took refuge at the mountains
Mountains with healing fountains
Rinsed me to rebirth
Applied my mechanism with gracious grease

Came to mind a song by KSA

" Appreciation modúpé
Oníbú ore, bàbá gb'opé mi"

For the Sandy Hook Newtown
children and their mentors

Rondelet: Rat-a-tat-'tat

Rat-a-tat-'tat
Rattle staccato riddle tumble
Rat-a-tat-'tat
Toppled children scatter rat-tat
Innocent voices all tremble
Rifled trillions sure-fire treble
Rat-a-tat-'tat

Unrequited Love Poem

Accidentally chanced upon
While browsing through a set of tomes
An unrequited love poem
Marked between the yellowed pages
Within a volume rifled through.
Thereupon, I eagerly read
The words in Edwardian script
Predated nineteen hundred six-
A sad age of class distinction-
Where lines describe a futile love
Of two unfortunates in love
The beau from high society
His belle of notoriety
The aging ink was droplet smeared
I want to think it was from tears.
