#8: Time's Up

Renewed, a second, their forevermore,
a bobbing pin rethreads all in red threads,
the pedals are pressed up and down the floor,
the bobbing pin threads in and out all reds.
The Kids and Mom in Kress's Department Store,
Dad is somewhere eating candied popcorn,
Kids are reading comics at the bookstore,
Mom looking at patterned clothes to adorn,
The store is not in business, now a school,
Pattern clothes take time, best buy off the shelf,
The bookstore is closed and comics a-tool,
Sewing at home is passe like Santa's elf,
Be a dog--cause cats only have nine lives,
Do the numbers--dogs don't count--just survives!

The Field of Brown

My head will drown
My face will frown
My head will drown
In a field of brown

The people run
The normal shun
The people run
From everyone

Love has vanished
Trust is banished
Love has vanished
Amongst the famished

Sadness spreads
Shame rethreads
Sadness spreads
Through all the heads

Advice is taken
All are shaken
Advice is taken
To reawaken
Now they see
Now they see
What it is to be

Get used
To getting used
Or the abused
Become confused

Find yourself
In private hell
Then you’ll tell
You never fell

The starry sky
Of the sorry night
Will make you forget
You forgot to fight

Blizzards come
Freeze the sum
Of every bum
To the point of numb

Then we come down
We come down
In the field of brown

The brown will sleep
As the famished weep
The brown will sleep
With all of the sheep

The snow will fall
While the famished crawl
The snow will fall
Upon the call

A second of peace
A second release
A second of peace
That will never cease

The famished are dead
The field is bred
Without a head

Then we come down
We come down
From the field of brown
