Repining Poems | Examples

Premium MemberWhen the Rain Fell

The sky changed as darkness stole away light
A vision of clouds overhead made a blight
Balmy air descended into a chill
As the sun faded losing all its will
A sound of pitter-patter all around
As the rain lightly played beats to the ground

A sense of foreboding was now brewing
As a storm appeared to be pursuing
Like the sea in its full current and swell
That’s how it felt when rain heavily fell
The flood gates of emotion opened up
Spilling over contents from a fragile cup

Mirrored puddles reflected much sorrow
Ripples of darkness clouded tomorrow
Be gone gloomy self - be anew today!
Let the heavenly rain wash it away
Cease this mournful brooding and repining
For a smile reflects like the sun shining

Premium MemberJust Me

I came out in the real world
To reunite with my soul I once had but lost
To reach out and feel your world
Of which I was once part of those you loved most

I came out in the open
To remind you of my past
A past I never wanted to happen
A past I never wanted to last

It is easier to forgive than to forget
Or cease repining from my visceral offense
But it is never my personal end not to regret
Hurting the hearts of my believers and friends condensed

By now I am like a flower defoliating
And have aged because of the past
But I'm still here standing and contemplating
After long years of silence, being an unbearable outcast

My words are not enough to make up
But the one good person you once knew is still inside of me
It is with honesty and sincerity that I showed up
Came back and still have a good grip of my real me... just me!

White Oak, Red Oak

Oh, mournful, mountain balladeer,
Your plaintive, mountain song
Comes aching through
The tender evening sadness.
"White oak, red oak!
White oak, red oak!"
Oh, whippoorwill,
My soul echoes your sorrow.

Oh, spokesman for the broken heart,
Who taught you your refrain?
So eloquent your voice
Of soulful yearning!
"White oak, red oak!
White oak, red oak!"
I join you in your
Summer night's repining.
