When the Rain Fell

The sky changed as darkness stole away light A vision of clouds overhead made a blight Balmy air descended into a chill As the sun faded losing all its will A sound of pitter-patter all around As the rain lightly played beats to the ground A sense of foreboding was now brewing As a storm appeared to be pursuing Like the sea in its full current and swell That’s how it felt when rain heavily fell The flood gates of emotion opened up Spilling over contents from a fragile cup Mirrored puddles reflected much sorrow Ripples of darkness clouded tomorrow Be gone gloomy self - be anew today! Let the heavenly rain wash it away Cease this mournful brooding and repining For a smile reflects like the sun shining

Love this Christina. You've written this in the style of how a director might direct a rain scene in a film. You build the atmosphere up so well. Cheers - Gary

We poets love rain! It says so much and it has so many moods of it's own. This is another honest and descriptive poem.. even becoming a prayer: "Let the heavenly rain wash it away" (for me). I love rain. I love this poem too. Please do more, Christina :) (brolly up - fav) Cx

Here in Australia the rain heralds joy and relief from blistering sun. Quite the opposite of your wonderful poem. I can relate in reverse. Understanding the emotion pouring over your words. A moving poem dear Chris. Enjoyed.

Dear SV, I know a while back that you had terrific heat (way more than I could cope with) so I can appreciate how rain is a blessing to lovely Australia. I can’t cope with heat at all and I’m dreading it as temps are slowly creeping up here in England. A lot of people welcome summer but for most, I dread it when it becomes unbearable. I go round looking a bit like a ghost :) as I don’t sit in the sun at all. I hope you have rain in abundance this year. Thank you for such lovely , supportive comments. Always valued. Xx

Hello Christina, I love the rain. I enjoy listening to the pitter patter of the rain hitting the window. the sound of the rain pouring with the wind blowing. It sounds like the waves coming to shore. Enjoy your day my friend./Darlene\

With the rain, the dark clouds from the sky are displaced. Like the clear sky, let the mind too become clear with all sorrow washed away. Let a smile sprout like the sun appearing in a clear sky. Lovely analogy ! Thank you for your kind visit to my page,
