Regresses Poems

Tell Yourself the Truth

Jealousy and envy differs;

Jealousy is mild;

Envy is wild.

Jealousy may not be seen;

Envy is a sin.

Jealousy progresses;

Envy regresses.

Jealousy is suppressive;

Envy is expressive.

Jealousy admires;

Envy conspires.

Jealousy imitates;

Envy eliminates.

Jealousy wishes to heal;

Envy wishes to kill.

The Last Turnstile

Time regresses
images blur,
memories detained

Tokens injected
into the madness
—forever to remain

Premium MemberLandscapes of the Mind

We leave the womb,
that place of warm safe-keeping,
and arrive to face our would-be lives
with nothing but a body and
a landscape, ready-made
but needing to be seeded
It's a pristine, faintly gleaming table of the mind.

Seeds of knowledge sown,
like clockwork, quickly grow,
nourished by the light
or even by mere shadows of examples
and fostered by a daily rain of practice.
Saplings soon arise in normal, fertile minds.
How the woodland shines when it’s enlightened!

Time passes. The trees of each soul’s forest
get taller; some get statelier. . .but all get old.
What mystery it is to me why some
who wish to keep their woodland strong
are met with great misfortune.
A parasite attacks, and one by one,
their trees succumb.
Soon each mind of these unfortunate souls
regresses to a time when
it was but a primal vacant landscape
with this exception. . .
 the terrain is only rocky barren soil.
I wonder if they see in their last earthly moments
the glimmer of
a brand new gleam
on their horizon.

When Progress Regresses

Matters little when life like a lifeless leaf in the wind trembles
Surging forth, seeking serenity, summoning common sense
In quarters cut off from conversation and creative communication mumbles
As couples lost in the mendacity miasma boast and coast in notoriety nonsense.

Matters less when fickle fantasy like a nightmare numbs
Reason imprisoned in a zone unzipped from progress
In circumstances and instances that indifference hums
As couples cooped and hooked on catastrophe create chaos and retrogress.

Matters more when sense and its essence like transformers matrimony transfigure
Sanity, supporting insanity and inanity as egos soar to the fore
In debates fed on acrimony and the prospect of an alimony figure
Lures and miscues clues that hurt the matrimony core on its floor.

Matters little when fuss like spittle fumbles and grumbles
Assuming pantagruelian proportions and portions in misnamed missions
Built on the back of vanity whose futility fumbles and crumbles
When prospects of separation and alienation fuel and fly freak, frenzy frictions.

Limerick: Once an-Other Anchor-Woman at Sea Anne-Anne

Once an’ Anchor-Woman at Sea Anne-Anne
Slipped tongue into a Black Hole’s butt end
She came out Parallel
In multi-Verse pell-mell
Now she reads sweN at aeS (Ace) ennA-N*.

•	For the general knowledge of readers of this limerick, humble clarifications are offered here. The capital letters: A, H, I, M, N, O, T, U, V, W, X, and Y are used without any visible change in the alphabet of our own Parallel Universe where – as everybody knows – Time regresses from Future to Past, i.e., e.g. say, from being “well-satiated” to being “hungry” and back forth. Here, even though “N” is written as “N”, the pronunciation is unwaveringly: “nE”. For more detailed explanations regarding the rules of prosody in our Parallel Uni-Verse, s’il vous plait, address your queries to Yours Truly at his address in Multi-Verse.
                                                 Merci Beaucoup!

Nonentity

A wandering spirit love failed to embrace.
Time, an immortal, continues to move at its pace.
Indecision chains curiosity's zeal.
The spirit begins to dwindle and so does the will.
A presence causes something to stir within.
Despite defenses around this half-dead heart, rekindled and unhinged.
An intangible hand reaches out; the demeanor changes from warm to cold.
Fleeting without explanation; uncontrolled.
A dangling modifier now in search of completion.
Unanswered questions hover open like a rotting wound; childhood notions.
Fragile, damaged; heart's enthusiasm regresses.
Adrenaline and emotions finally rest.
Silent pleas and cries for understanding go unheard.
Exits; no noise; no word.
Affection refuses countenance with vindictive epitome.
Pursuing in trance for IT will never “see",
this nonentity.

The Constant

In weathered age it regresses
A weathered mind which one assesses
For there's only one
That time caresses
Only one
That time possesses.
