He sees refs for you
you see refs favoring him
I just see bad calls

Anyway
Was just strolling down the street
Minding my own P’s and Q’s
Whatever they are
When….well…
Nothing happened!!
I just stood there
Amazed
Watching a group of children
PLAY…
You know….PLAY
Run, jump, laugh, chase each other
Play soccer without nets
Without refs
Without parental supervision.
OH!...the parents were there
Watching
Biting their lips
Grimacing at each collision
Sighing at each missed…
WAIT….there was no goal!!!
Only the joy
Of children….being children
And of parents
Allowing them that JOYFULNESS.
A few knees were scraped
A few feelings fluffed up
All were forgotten
In the savory coolness
Of ice cream
And a garden hose shower.

Competitiveness in business
Is a sorry sight to witness
Cheating if the chance allows
Lie, slander put them down
Compare it to a sporting fixture
You can’t cheat with refs around
Upfront honesty that features
In business no rules are found
Clueless Bosses that are weak
Sport would see them sink beneath
Sort by results when you compete
Not top because you power seek
Sucking up creates the chances
Manipulative for advances
It’s how liars take advantage
Business leaves you disenchanted
It’s not about who is best
It’s about who is slyest
That’s how to progress
at the top but no better than the rest

Uniforms
By Franklin Price
(inspired by Joe Price)
06/01/2020
Uniforms, what do you think?
Better yet, what do you see?
We're most often what we're wearing
Life is uniformity
Think about it for a bit
Very few do not comply
These uniforms, from day to day,
Are the ones that catch your eye
Police are the most evident
Prisoners who are in the jail
Guards who work to watch them
The judge who sets their bail
Military who protect us
Ones who put the fires out
Chefs who cook our food at night
Servers running all about
Athletes on the field of play
Refs who make them toe the line
Doctors, nurses, in their scrubs,
Airline pilots looking fine
Priests in all their vestments
Business men in suit and tie
Do you ever wear a uniform?
Did you ever wonder why?
Uniforms define the job
At least, provide a guess
I believe that life without them,
Would be a further mess
Still plenty of confusion
Who's a friend or enemy
You'll find them in the uniforms
Of everyone you see
Have a realistic attitude
Of the uniforms out there
Don't think there's someone, that there's not.
In the uniforms we wear

you bet
in debt
world cup
shut up
score goal
big hole
whistle
missile
fans fight
not right
refs rule
you fool
corner
warner
handball
false call
false claim
not lame
bad fan
I'd ban
play ball
don't fall
England
win land
sit tight
we might
mighty
Blighty!

Real is no longer the topic of conversation
Searching for the genuine and authentic
Lost within traditional lies
My generation has made me almost vomit, I am quite sick
Copying the moves of the next man
Original thoughts have been abandoned
For to be original is to be unpopular
Unfortunately, this is where the wheel of fortune has landed
Bad has became good
Confused actions are the norm in this twisted affair
Vultures lurk and prey on the weak
These sneaky snakes have overshadowed the biggest bear
Animalistic ideology for many
Trustworthiness is no more than a word
The lexicon of the public has shifted dramatically
Advice is to be spoken but not heard
In one ear and out the other
Words have little power to those who are deaf
The world has become quite foul
Players are now taking shots at the refs

Across the ice the players skate around,
Defensemen, goalies, wings and refs abound.
The stands are packed with fans with cups of beer,
The pucks invade the nets to raucous cheer.

Pitcher deals.
Center snaps.
Forward volleys.
Captain kneels.
Wing traps.
Road team rallies.
Runner steals.
Driver laps.
Bookies watch at O'Malleys.
Coach jaws.
Goalie paws.
Mothers pray.
Midfielder moans.
Winners eat macaroons.
Fathers look less gray.
Refs tally the time left
'Til the moon rises.
Fans leave, bereft,
Searching for further surprises.

They both wear black and white,
Sport’s fans will see some tonight,
As one type skates on frozen water,
The other keeps a herd in order.
The man can get caught up in media hype,
Each has the same angle of stripe,
Only one has them down to the toes,
And tries to out run the foes.
Seeing far away is their asset,
Always watching out for a threat,
While the other kind may need to hide,
Making some calls they seem crossed-eyed.
A zebra is born looking like this,
All the while, hoping their enemy will miss,
Linesmen and refs are known to make a bad call,
In the end, it could be a team’s down fall.

Football coach Bobby Bowden was never one to cuss
But refs make mistakes and coaches have a right to fuss
“St. Bowden” as he was lovingly called by players
Instilled moral values and hushed all the naysayers
He’d not take God’s name in vain, so he coined dadgumit
It became his trademark, might appear in his obit
If a ref made a bad call, he’d race onto the field
Never said God d*** it, when the ref’s call he appealed
"Dadgumitrefereeism" got his point across
The refs would shy away because Bobby was the boss
Sometimes calls were overturned since Bobby was revered
Short and stout in stature, but the refs still shook in fear
The “Saint” played with God on his side and the refs knew it
Dadgumitrefereeism didn't bother God a bit
