Anyway

Anyway
Was just strolling down the street
Minding my own P’s and Q’s
Whatever they are
When….well…
Nothing happened!!
I just stood there
Amazed
Watching a group of children
PLAY…
You know….PLAY
Run, jump, laugh, chase each other
Play soccer without nets
Without refs
Without parental supervision.
OH!...the parents were there
Watching
Biting their lips
Grimacing at each collision
Sighing at each missed…
WAIT….there was no goal!!!
Only the joy
Of children….being children
And of parents
Allowing them that JOYFULNESS.
A few knees were scraped
A few feelings fluffed up
All were forgotten
In the savory coolness
Of ice cream
And a garden hose shower.

Yes, this is absolutely astonishing in our day and age. Are you sure that you were not somewhere in 'the Twilight Zone?! ~ Rod Serling

Such a delightful scene, John! You rarely see kids being normal kids and just playing for the fun of it anymore. Blessings, Kim M
