Dreams come and go swiftly
Scattering themselves into separate compartments
Hiding their truths for the dreamer
Deciphered by no psychologist or psychiatrist
For by the time we see one, we have closed them off
Camouflaged their significance, if we knew what it was
Sometimes we are flying in our dreams.
Out of body, our souls free, as if we are in heaven.
It is when we come back to fast that we crash land.
Waking with a loud gasp as our soul
Hits our chest, heart pounding in fear
Eyes flutter open briefly
Dream laughs
Reenters the cosmos
Out of our reach

My mind goes clickety clackety
Down yesterday’s track.
I chase it hard to slow it down.
And possibly bring part of it back.
It spits in my face,
And kicks my shins.
With my imagination in full throttle,
I never do win…
My mind is dancing and prancing
Alone in the dark,
Not waking me up.
On zone auto-stark.
I sleep like a baby
For my spirit is away
In Omaha or Europe
on Astral Travel today.
My mind is shushing the soul
As it reenters my body.
I wake up swiftly, my eyes connecting again.
The lightness of the day has me ready to win.
My soul and my mind and my imagination too
Are clearly in charge of everything that I do.

All I want to know is
Do I have a distinctive voice?
Standing out in a crowd
Mic in hand, choice
Of song, how important
To hear and be heard
We must be privileged
Do you eat your scallop with beard?
This is reminding me of my ex
My brother says let him go
And I do vehemently
No emotions on show
Are you ready to meet him?
Your next potential ex
As the entropy reenters
No matter how clean shaven, hex
Upon all of us doomed
To end before we begin
Nothing to do in here
Accept, take it on the chin
