flying to the light
i floated aimlessly as a water lily
through the seasons of my youth
clinging tenaciously to others
afraid i’d drown if i drifted apart
as i meandered among the many
i chanced to look into the azure skies
and beheld a white dove in flight
reveling in pure freedom
how i longed to break free
from those water laden petals
and find a truer stream to follow
unbounded from the rest
so i broke away from the others
and followed the heavenly dove
for a metamorphosis had begun
new wings had now sprung…
….i flew to the light of the Son
