Dawn Uncovers

A damp sky softly falls to earth.
Chilled gray webs tremble
as dawn parts its spidery threads.

Squirrels peep through the day-break.
A black crow shakes an iridescent rainbow
off glossy wings.
A geranium in a terracotta pot
unfolds a carmine face.

Lately I have risen before the day.
I have watched how the Goddess
undresses only to choose a new costume.

This morning She is silver
in a shadow-glow, Her slippers are puddles
where pearls are scattered -
all still too deep to be reached
by mortal hands.
