Baseball

I am a brand new baseball.
The pitcher waits for the call.
He holds me tight,
Until the time is right.

The pitcher lets me go.
Through the air I flow.
The bat has a powerful swing,
But I end up in the leather thing.

"Strike one," yells the umpire.
Boy, am I on fire!
Again, I sail through the air.
This time, the bat is there.

I go to the right.
Foul ball, I'm in plain sight.
The pitcher stares the batter in the face,
And this time, I am thrown in the right place.

Crack!
I don't dare look back.
The crowd stands up to cheer.
I guess I'm the most popular here.
