When Tongue Triumphs Over Brain
A word, a traitor,
escaped the fortress of my teeth,
a rogue syllable, a rebel sound.
It danced, a clumsy jester,
in the silence that followed,
a ripple in the still pond of conversation.
The air thickened,
a tapestry woven with unspoken meanings,
the threads of intent tangled and frayed.
Was it a Freudian fall, a hidden desire,
a truth too heavy for the heart to bear,
leaping from the subconscious like a startled bird?
Or merely a clumsy stumble,
a linguistic stumble, a momentary lapse,
a glitch in the machine of articulation?
The blush that crept up my neck,
a crimson flag of shame,
signaling the surrender of composure.
And the eyes, those silent witnesses,
searching for the hidden message,
deciphering the hieroglyphics of the unintended.
A slip of the tongue,
a tiny earthquake,
reshaping the landscape of understanding.
Does it reveal the darkness we conceal?
Or just the fragile, human imperfection,
the constant negotiation between thought and word?
