Have You Ever

This piece, dear readers, is to commemorate yet another milestone in my life...my ##th birthday...

Have you ever made a lantern out of fireflies,
Or skipped a smooth flat stone across a pond?
Have you ever used your tongue to catch a snowflake,
Or heard the gentle laughter of the rain?
Have you ever listened to a baby's heartbeat,
Or made a wish upon a shooting star?
Have you ever shared a secret with a daisy,
Or built romantic castles in the air?
Have you ever climbed a dune to watch a sunset
Then stayed to catch a moonbeam in your hand?
Have you ever searched for gold beneath a rainbow,
Or built a battle fortress in the sand?
Have you ever fashioned mountains out of molehills,
Or found a precious diamond in the rough?
Have you ever turned a thought into a brainstorm,
Or wondered just when is enough enough?
Have you ever felt love tugging at your heartstrings
Then watched it turn away and pass you by?
Have you ever had a loved one make your heart break
Or made someone you cared for laugh or cry?
Most everyone's done some of these,
And some have, most likely, done them all.
I may try to squeeze in another few
Before my final curtain call.
