Don't Quit Before You Begin OPJ
Please don't make your lines too long ,
As my eyes don't travel well . ( Note to self make opticians appointment )
And remember long poems,
They really aren't your friend .
And punctuation is the cornerstone
It's what makes you one of us
It's what sep-arates us from the journalists
As they think it such a fuss. ( Note to self obtain book on punctuation )
And remember nothing clever
Certainly nothing over my head ,
As I've pencilled in a migraine
Judging poems from my bed.
Now I can't really stress enough
How important this is to me
So I've gone to the inconvenience
To write a poem about what I mean .

"I was here,
You were there,
Love is everywhere"
I've written this at 45 degrees
and how pretty it all looks, agreed?
As I like to blend my artistic flare
With a first in trigonometry.
This is just an example
A masterpiece , plain to see .
Show freedom of expression ,
But within my boundaries.
Make sure you have Google
Or a dictionary to hand
And if you could write it upside down
Then that would be , just grand.
Swinging from a chandelier ( 10 Bonus points)
While writing a sonnet of love
And even paint the ceiling
When you feel you've had enough. (Extra Bonus Points at the discretion of partner ) p276

So really what I'm looking for
Is something simple, but sublime,
A lot to ask I hear you say ,
Oh ! Did I forget to mention rhyme.
I prefer an ABAB or an ABBA poem
Limited syllables please
As it reminds me of my husband ( Swedish)
When he proposed to me .
I want passion and glory,
Of how the world began,
Polite note , keep it brief
As I've a short attention span.
I try and keep my contests simple,
No airs and graces do I provide,
That's why I ask my 5 year old
To stick a pin in one , and decide.
Now if you've read my requirements (365 pages long )
Of which they are plain but stylish
I'd really appreciate to receive
No later than tomorrow
