On Stage With Jerry Stringer
Who is your favorite family member? Jerry Stringer asks me.
I look around the stage and out in the audience, seeing many expectant faces.
My husband, three daughters, two sons-in-law,
ten grandchildren, spoiled dog and cat.
I am my favorite, I say.
Disappointing no one.
Someone holds up a sign
To remind me – no fighting, yelling or hair pulling,
no extra five thousand dollars.
I mean it’s the dog I yell.
The cat hisses and claws my eye out,
the grands jump on stage and begin chasing the dog and the cat.
The audience roars their approval.
“Keep it going!” The next sign says.
“I hate everyone but me!” I yell.
The audience gasps.
The next sign says “You have gone too far. You now owe us $1000.”
