Tv Static

What goes on in your mind,
When you sit absent in front of the tv—
Staring at it.
Waiting for it to turn on—
Do you wonder how it works?
What remote is needed?
Or are you so far gone,
You don’t notice that nothing is playing.
The sounds are already playing in your memories,
As they fade away and—
Fall into obscurity,
You sound surprised when I ask,
If you want to watch something.
Maybe you saw something I couldn’t.
Tv static was already there,
It only shows to those who want to see it—
Maybe that’s what you’re thinking…
You wish for it to play,
Until the circuits and wires,
Reveal themselves to you,
Through the mirror of the screen,
Something that was never supposed to be seen—
Maybe you’re old self lies with them.
Hidden behind panels,
Locked away so far in your skull,
That It'd take years to dig it out again.
So instead you sit,
Absent on the couch,
Watching what used to be your memories,
Play like static,
On the tv.
