MEANING
MEANING
Can meanings of words run out
A bit like when a battery is low
No longer quite able to sustain
The punch we’ve come to know
Now, like a devalued currency
Almost worthless copper coins
Once proud, yet now destitute
As the sad queue it finally joins
Maybe love is now such a word
Of deep feeling, a pale reflection
Once was used, but now abused
Unworthy of much introspection
It doesn’t even feel like evolution
As words get replaced by others
It is like a weakening generation
Always hiding under the covers
A subtle trend, but all’s not lost
If we might alter our behaviours
Trying more speech and singing
Could poets now be our saviours
