First Water
Notice so little on the way up
Focus on following those ahead, keeping pace, making a good showing
Single minded on the stated end
Also some on footwork to avoid false steps and other bad things
Declare my rock; not further on, just here
Sit awhile
Breathe awhile
Take stock
Things so much more vivid on the way down
Like the resounding dog's howl from the valley below
Many are met on their way up
Greetings vary widely
Some are aggressive to greet me first
Some are ashamed of how they are progressing
Some inquire about rumors of a bear near First Water
Some are birds
