Self Love
“The hardest challenge is to be yourself in a world where everyone is trying to make you be somebody else.” E.E Cummings

Self Love
From the shining sea of the inner self
I wish to pen a letter to myself
To scan some strings that sew up my being
And explore the inner child worth loving;
At times in the quietude of daylight
And oft in the stark silence of the night
I brood over the purpose of my life
And some times I stew up an inner strife;
Oft pitched in the midst of the multitude
I feel myself savouring solitude
Surveying the strides of the inner sea
And smiling to myself with shining glee;
Yet basking in the sun of solitude
I may sense the touch of the multitude
As I tread on alone but not lonely
With my deep thoughts keeping me company.
My heart reaches out to folks in dire needs,
Some on the brink of starvation, indeed,
And longs to bring to them a helping hand
Along with words of comfort as a friend.
Oft I see myself soaring to the sky
To the shrine of the divine realm to ply
Seeking to enrich the seams of my soul
In a bid to merge with the sublime whole.
Some may label me as a daydreamer
Others may tag me as a redeemer,
Some may wish from my shade to keep aloof
Others may desire to mount on my roof.
Should I enhance my growth and mend my ways
Or seek to be as I am day by day?*
Should I love myself as carved by the Lord
Or mould myself to suit others` accord?
Let me love myself the way that I am
And not as the reflection of a scam
That will fade away with the lapse of time,
But a flame to light the way with its shine.
Let me be as I`m, a lonely being
Yet bearing for others depth of feeling
Like sparks of a singular shining star
Guiding passers-by from the sky afar.
