Ode from a Friend
Ode from a Friend
Having forged our bonds since the days of youth
Shared many battles of life together
Friend, let me on you uncover some truth,
You may brush them aside in the ether
Your cheeks may turn red on hearing my words
You may be wobbled by waves of unease,
But let the bare truth far and wide be heard
Let your ears digest what I say with ease;
You`re a deep sea of compassion, my friend
With your heart grieving when you see some souls
In utmost needs and their offspring can`t fend
Without any roof, without any goal,
You`re keen to lend to them a helping hand
Bring some solace to their desolate plight
And as divine agent, to them extend
The sparkle of sublime mercy and light.
You`re archetype of modesty, my friend
You bear on yourself no gleams of conceit,
About your own shine you do not defend
But of every man you speak fair and sweet,
For you, modesty is not a weakness
But a strong symbol of your inner strength,
It`s expression of your uniqueness
That from haughty souls marks the difference.
You`re a symbol of honesty, my friend
Sustaining the shine of sincerity
Dealing with candid frankness with all men
Holding high the flag of integrity
Espousing the highest moral values
In midst of the sparkling shine of summer
And hugging the highest human virtues
Even when weird wild winds blow in winter.
My ink is close to running dry, my friend,
To paint all your positive traits today
My ink can`t sustain what I wish to pen
And I have miles to go on my long way,
Let it be for other days when we meet
Let it be when the sun tempers its shine,
Until then, please accept my sincere greet
And look forward to that propitious time.
