Mid-Laughter and Lights
The lights blink like fireflies
as laughter echoes the summer air,
rides spun dizzying circles
as I sniffed the scent of popcorn everywhere.
Ticket stubs is sweaty palms,
fingers laced with sugar thrill.
Goldfish prize in plastic bag
and stuffed bears won with lucky skill.
Each booth--a doorway to memory,
in twilight and at the break of dawn.
The fun, joy, and the laughter
that tangled and lingers within.
Ferris wheel held secrets in it's own soft and thin.
Cotton candy twilight melts
and neon lights begin to shimmer
across the sky.
Music bustled throughout the stands.
Neon pulses, laughter swirls in rhythm
Strangers meet at the carnival.
Night wraps us in its glowing pearls.
Children screeched on spinning rides,
hearts pounded from time to time.
Teenage glances on a date--
blush, shared shy rhyme.as they walked by.
The world is free to see the giant swing,
as if leaning on the sky and touching the stars.
For a moment, mid-laughter and lights,
the night feels boundless, full of love!
