What are you having for your lunch
Just walking along past a hospital and there's someone relaying their lunch to someone on the phone
"Macaroni cheese and chips"
"Ooh that sounds alright!" I heard from the phone receiver.
And it set my mind running from all those little autopilot conversations that are just comforting
Being glad for someone having a decent lunch in the middle of it all
Realising there are things to enjoy and appreciate
I remember my own joy when collecting my mum from the hospital and I asked how she'd got on and the answer was she got a cheese sandwich, a yogurt and 3 cups of coffee and I made her tell me again and videoed it because her joy needed bottling
In that moment of hardship, she'd found something in this world
The kindness of the offer of the lunch whilst she was there
I myself was given a chocolate this morning by the car parking guy
It's his birthday but the chocolate happened to be my favourite
I forgot to write a poem but sometimes the words "macaroni cheese and chips" are poetic enough on their own
