little did I know

             little did I know

this way then would be familiar
     without all the wanting
     I've tried to
     listen for the ending
     my ear up hard
     against a perfect spiral shell

in that stochastic twist of sound
     my name bounces down
     a hollow staircase infinite
     and round
     dancing with delusion

I'm not sure where I begin
     is the beginning
or what I'm falling off from
     bloodied but still breathing

hold me up and tell me
     I am blinded by precision
     what gifts have I forgotten
     whose sorrow is forgiven
