Some of My Parts

I asked my gal for a dinner date.
“Sure”, she said, “That would be just great -
But, this time, show up as the ‘whole you’”.
“Sure”, I said, “that I surely can do!”

And then, I wondered, “what could she mean?
Where one part of me goes, the others are seen”,
But I gathered myself, and off I went.
Soon, I would discover just what she meant.

I can say for sure that my butt was there -
It asserted itself to sit in a chair.
I then determined I had brought each eye -
She was beautiful, they could not deny.

But the eyes which upon her face adorns
Looked at me, as if I had three horns.
I could see her mouth move speedy and fast,
But my ears filtered out much of the blast.

Perhaps her feelings I should explore,
But I left my brain at home in a drawer.
My eyes wished to drop down to inspect,
But my brain telegraphed me to redirect.

“Where’s your backbone?”, my ears thought they heard,
“and sense of duty, has this never occurred?”
But just then my nose took a sniff,
And from something tasty I took a whiff.

My stomach so badly dinner was desiring -
Back in the drawer, my neurons weren’t firing.
My eyes saw her forehead get smashed by her palm,
And my mouth suggested, “time to be calm”.

My feet prepared to run fast out the door,
But something inside to my feet did implore.
What could that thing be? It was only my heart
Saying, “bring everything for a new start”.
