headlight
headlights
It is morning on the other side of the bay
I see hundreds of cars still driving with
headlights on, which means it was dark
when drivers drove to work
In one of the cars sits a cook only he is
called the executive chef because he sign
the menu today, he will oversee the lunch
his restaurant has important guests
The cook is a remarkable man and has had
the same hairstyle for thirty-two- two years
it must be rising damp from poet and pans
who has kept his hair intact
He is fond of telling when he was in Paris
as a young man learning to peel carrots
the right way, he dreamed of becoming
a proper cook back then, he proudly said
to everyone, I'm a cook
With fame, he can be rude, telling a couple
who had been waiting for lunch an hour
off; the swearing was reported in
the pages of a well-known newspaper
The sun shines this morning, but the radio
news said it would rain in the afternoon
We, need to go out in the rain
take the lift down to the basement, drive
to a supermarket with indoor parking
the rain we see is what hits car widows
Nothing romantic like rain on your face
yes, we have been young and splashed about
in love or in sadness, that was ok too
