Halloweens Come and Go #8

You don't frighten me, my darling.
I would know you anywhere,
Though you're in that witches costume
And that scary mask you wear.

For a moment I am flustered,
Such a creature to behold.
Then I hear that little giggle
Just as in the days of old.

I've been missing your appearance
For these many a Halloween,
Since I dressed you in October
As a little fairy queen.

When you grew little older
You left all of that behind.
You thought Halloween was nonsense,
There were other treats to find.

I've been sitting at my window
For the first ghosts to appear
Of the Halloweens of used to be,
Expecting none this year.

Then I hear the doorbell ringing
And I bolt from my big chair.
On the doorstep stands two tricksters,
Yelling at me "Trick or Dare".

All the joys of the past years
Are now back this Halloween
As I see you in your costume
With your little fairy queen.
