Embarcadero's Embrace

Where the Albay Gulf unfolds,
a ribbon of blue stitched with sunlight,
the Embarcadero stretches,
a concrete embrace along the shore.

The Mayon Volcano, a perfect cone,
hovers in the distance,
sometimes shy behind a veil of cloud, sometimes bold, its majestic presence
a constant, silent witness.

The air hums with a gentle energy,
the laughter of families strolling,
the murmur of conversations
carried on the salty breeze.

Boats bob gently in the marina,
their masts like slender fingers
pointing towards the horizon,
promising journeys across the water.

Streetlights bloom as dusk descends, casting a warm glow
on the painted facades of shops and restaurants,
inviting lingering, shared meals.

The scent of grilled seafood mingles
with the sweet perfume of flowering trees,
a taste of the local, a breath of the tropics.

Here, the rhythm is slower,
the gaze often drawn outwards,
towards the vastness of the sea,
the enduring beauty of the land,
a space to simply be,
at the edge of the water,
in the heart of Legazpi.
