Lovers Among Lilacs, Marc Chagall

though cut, nothing yet dies
life is full, fresh
enough to sustain weight
enough to envelope
as we deceive/discover ourselves
believe there is no drop
despite that, the moon falls
obscures, rolls into/out of orbit/view
becomes a part of me
lunar fascinate
as inexplicably you love me
I've stolen the gravity of the moon
placed it within my chest
rested a floral display upon it
changed insanity to beauty
irresistibly lain bare
should I offer excuses?
no one needs them
in fact everyone is happy
they mind not if I am fallen stone
because we differ on point of view
and some nights and days
the beguiling light of the moon
is more than anyone could ask for
I'll let the perceiver be the judge
as light falls on me to reveal flaws
that don't matter in this moment
and never mattered to anyone
but me
