GOD'S GROOM AND DEVIL’S DAUGHTER

GOD'S GROOM & DEVIL’S DAUGHTER

In a chapel shrouded, moon's caress so slight,
Stood God’s own groom, within sight,
Vows exchanged in whispers, quiet & tender,
With Devil's daughter, her heart not to surrender.4

His heart like a pure cloth, untainted, neatly pressed,
She, in shadows wove, a fiery, unholy zest.
An angel’s voice, and eyes of sinful hue,
Together bound, a harmony from opposing view.8

"Submit," he preached, the word a silken chain,
To tame the wild, to wash away the stain.
Yet in her core, the embers blazed in mock,
Defiant daughter of a darker flock.¹²

He hoped to quell her spirit, fierce and wild,
To mold her into saint, meek and mild.
A prayer for her, to walk the path he trod,
A mission to convert, for the sake of God.¹6

But she's a nocturnal creature made of night,
Would bend to none, not even to his light.
With a gaze that challenged, fierce and bold,
She looked upon his eyes, her story told.²°

No demoness born to cower or to fear,
But to rise & dance, making her stance clear.
Not heaven’s grace, nor hell’s own sear,
Could make her yield, the line she’d draw near.²4

“Love,” she said, “is not of chains but flight,
Not of blinded eyes, but of newfound sight.
I shall stay beside, but not beneath,
I shall match your strength for strength.²8
