Costumes and Laughs
A mask to conceal
a costume to hide behind
A dozen laughs kill the pain
a couple drinks anesthetize
Any way it’s sliced or diced
a band-aid halts the blood
Though memory lurks in darkling queue
to ope all wounds anew
