Costumes and Laughs

      A mask to conceal
         a costume to hide behind
A dozen laughs kill the pain
         a couple drinks anesthetize

Any way it’s sliced or diced
          a band-aid halts the blood
Though memory lurks in darkling queue
          to ope all wounds anew

Using alcohol as a remedy for any situation is a dangerous solution that eventually might get out of control. Well written Gershon. Thank you for sharing...

Yep -- what needs to be dealt with, will resurface. I am not down on alcohol entirely. Temporarily it has saved many a person's sanity...habitual use has destroyed many bodies and souls. Drinking is not for everyone. And no one should ever feel the art entirely mastered. Delicate, constant vigilance for healthy balance. I am certain some doctors would say, none at all. Just my uneducated opinion. Oh, great writing my friend. Poetically perfect!

Well written Gershon. It is how and why many people slip into addiction.

Is the last line supposed to read to open? Anyway this is really clever!

Archaic variant form of open -- I had to look it up also:)
