the screen

the road is long
and the valley is wide
cutting its path through time
littered by what you've left behind

a photo on a shelf
a moment frozen in time
faded memories of self
behind a glassy shine

see places you'll never be
things you'll never see
here on your fancy screen

with each new day
you're slowly rotting away
a mind turned to mush
and a broken crooked spine

is this a dream
is this reality
is this fantasy
on your fancy screen

----

in another world you were a big gun
you carried your weight and you won
you tossed a coin and rolled the dice
you got a chance to play in paradise

A wolf amongst sheep you moved
whistling to the tune of a happy mood
now the guns are turning on you
and they won't stop till they're through

the weight can't be left behind
as all but you
is swept away by the tide

---

Is memory but a dream
are we all that we seem
are we born again each day
as the old fades away

a photo on a shelf
a moment frozen in time
faded memories of self
behind a glassy shine

see places you'll never be
things you'll never see
here on your fancy screen

with each new day
you're slowly rotting away
a mind turned to mush
and a broken crooked spine

is this a dream
is this reality
is this fantasy
on your fancy screen
