Slowly You Fade Away

Slowly You Fade Away
Before time erases your last shadow,
The eyes of the world have begun to blur your outline.
You dissolve slowly, before you get lost in oblivion.
Mice-like eyes scan you, with a grimace suggesting,
That you can no longer weave the thread of days with the yarn of labored thoughts.
Before you disappear, many have taken silence as their farewell.
With melancholy, I remember the moments when you were the entire story,
When your essence filled the pages, when you were the verb in the present tense;
Now you fade away slowly, before death paints your final portrait.
You're no longer the soloist, not even in your backup show;
They've decorated you with shadow, they've pushed you towards the edge of the stage,
Before you get lost, the audience has ceased to applaud.
Even as crushing reality bears down, denial is useless;
Those who come after you have cast a new narrative over yours.
You, slowly, evaporate, before life concludes its recital.
The sun, like a calm flame, still possesses playfully with the dawn,
So you wonder, dazed yet full of revolt,
Long before the end, why did everyone allow the whispers of goodbye to settle?
You fade away slowly, until not even the echo speaks your name.
