Janus face VS An Act of Kindness

JANUS FACE Posted : 11-11-2023 Form : Free Verse

“I hold a delightful being and an undesirable being inside of me.
It’s up to you which one you meet”
                                                                                 ~~The Poet~~
dismally destructive
yet charmingly creative

unabatedly chaotic
obligatorily perfection

unsophisticatedly naïve
graciously worldly wise

uncouth and ill-mannered
poised etiquette

audaciously rude
enticingly eloquent

unsuitably slovenly
exactingly efficient

decked in Shabby attire
styled with cultured couture

disheveled, dingy
polished, well-groomed

in company of many in ill-repute
thoroughbred acquaintances

robotically draconian
artistically graceful

AN ACT OF KINDNESS. Posted 14th June 2024 Form : Rhyme

“I hold a delightful being and an undesirable being inside of me.
It’s up to you which one you meet”
                                                                                 ~~The Poet~~

Tradition was that being the oldest, she must be the first to marry.
What a burden this was to carry.
She had not met a man that gained her father’s approval.
How she wished for this tradition’s removal.
Her younger sister had met her mate.
But unfortunately they could not marry, they had to wait.
Finally she introduced to her father, a suitable beau.
She listed all his attributes of which her father should know.
He is charmingly creative and obligatorily perfect,
He possesses poised etiquette and, exactingly manners in effect,
Styled with cultured couture and graciously worldly wise,
He has thoroughbred acquaintances and attractive blue eyes.
He is enticingly eloquent, polished and well groomed.
He’s artistically graceful. Father you will accept him, it is assumed.
She married him next day just for her dear sister.
She’d not mentioned his Janus face traits til they were Mrs. and Mr.
Seeing the kindness she had bestowed her sister. It made him mellow.
He was no longer such an uncouth ill-mannered fellow.
Less dismally destructive, less unabatedly chaotic or audaciously rude.
His habit of being unsuitably slovenly was somewhat subdued.
He became more sophisticated. He was no longer decked in shabby attire.
Not disheveled and dingy, or to be robotically draconian he didn’t aspire.
He saw less of his acquaintances of ill-repute.
There was now hope for their marriage, there is no dispute.
This became a story of kindness,
As to his bad traits she applied a little blindness.
