On burning sands;
a little crab scurries
to his burrow.
He will hide from
sandals and flip-flops
until the giant creatures
ride the waves.

Their unguarded possessions
may house a tidbit or two…
crabs, like crows,
love to collect Pretty baubles;
especially if they fit nicely in one claw.
Tiny crab found, quite by accident, a stray object…
and a small watch-ring
walked away with its new owner.

While digging for sharks teeth by a pier minutes later,
ten year old Joey discovered a useless
but very tiny, sand-coated, watch-ring.
Little crab returning to the beach,
Devastated by the loss; attached his claw to Joey’s toe.
Subsequent scream sent crab flying and upon landing;
crab scurried to reacquire his treasure.
Poor Joey cried and danced like a,
one legged rabbit.

More Than Just Memories

Parents:

They got smaller as one grew older.
They never truly existed as
Those giant creatures we remember.
They cease to be mere points in time.
They reacquire personalities unrealized by us.
Personalities that were rich and full
And consisted more of reality
Than of our imagined memories…
They become as lonely (and elusive)
In one’s mind: as if seen receding
In the reflection of a rear view mirror.
They gain texture and color even as
They diminish in substance with
The eternal and relentless passage of time.
They too, argued and cried
And built sandcastles in their minds.
They too dreamed great dreams
And suffered sorrows
Grand and small. And then we…
Became them

Pyromancer

baby you light up my life
matches strike in light passes
combusting is a must thing
it's anything but passive

there's desire in the fire
lips licking 'round loves edges
consuming each to reacquire
burning true with embered pledges

yet it works...this glowing fire
as if in my own conflagration
a saucy barbecuing lustful ire
might burn lust's own inflammation

consume me now! down to ash!
there's nothing left to come
a bursting-bright red-hot flash
all passioned desires to succumb

cinders spark with blaze alight
lovely PyRomancer in slow motion
burn up and down, burn out and bright
burn inextinguishable with devotion

Patience of Life

Life is but a dream waiting to happen
Always out of reach yet barely attainable
For those who have tasted and savored
A forever road striving to arrive awaits
Illusions of reality, reality of illusions
Voids unfilled, lessons learned, life's amiss
Instincts of intuition pass through one's mind
If to walk in their shoes would we see the same
Leagues of experience tread this life
Standing still on a vertical impasse awaits
Swaying to reactions of actions conversed
Reassess to reacquire what may be lost
Fortunes told, treasures lost and won
Unchartered territories on horizons rim
Wishful thinking to all who dream
The goals to conquer are life's gambles
To compare the depths of here and now
Is natures link to unrelenting pursuit
Inhibitions casually laid to rest aside
Just once take the risk, it is worthwhile.
