Rabbi, teacher of wisdom light of my soul
spiritual leader guide and wholesome Father
breathe on me and fall afresh
for I am only human, made of flesh...
Master, wrap me in the shelter of your Loving Grace
Minister of peace, giver of life
bequeath this heart of mine the light of your
Holy enmesh...

Death, Again

I
The man said, we are treated as children
By almost every tradition and religion
As with goblin, gargoyle, fairy stories
Socialized into fearfulness: losing memories, lives -

II
Jesus taught, "I have overcome!" Recall His Resurrection:
O death, where is your sting, O "sin" where is condemnation?
Whether one meditates on space, or my beloved "Sky-ness"
Humble gurus you prefer, Pursue Peace (Shalom of Jesus)

Thorns

The hour is five.
An early stroll
With subdued light
And breakfast goal

To chat and pray
With faithful friend
As sunlight rays
They stretch and bend

Relentless thoughts
Of who we are
Just travellers
Both near and far

We pray and share
As all around
Enlightenment
Of solid ground

But something strange
A fleeting glance
A momentary
Holy dance

Allows my eyes
To capture this
Reflected in
The water's bliss.

No one garment
Ever said
As much upon
A person's head

Of royalty
And suffering
This cruel crown
Of offering

A sacrifice
So we could be
Completely human,
Holy, free.

Memories of Rabbi Harold Smith

When I met him
his hair was grey
And his wisdom shone forth
like a beacon
He knew that Shabbes
is an important
part of Judaism
He palyed guitar
and led us in prayer
He loved his family, his synagogue, his church
Gone from the Earth

They Called Him Rabbi

The called him rabbi..
Born in Bethlehem of Judea
A fulfillment of the prophecy.
Fled with his parents to Egypt
It's you Oh LORD who called..
Your son from Egypt..

He taught in their temples and synagogues
But it was a dark night when they ambushed him
Seized him and in a miscarriage of justice..
Sentenced him to hang one who was without sin..
Hanging on that cross the atonement for sin

He who was without blemish
Was blemished that we might receive life
God so desired our fellowship after the fall..
He sent His own son to restore the fellowship
To become a grace for all who believe in him

Resurrected is he..on the throne of mercy he is
Interceding day and night the lamb of salvation
Worthy is the lamb to receive all the praise..
Blessed is the one who comes in the Lords Name
Hosanna in the highest worthy is the lamb

Memories of Harold Swiss, Rabbi

He gave long sermons
     and spoke to the
 congregation
in measured tones
     Gone now these many
years
   His memory lives on
in the heart of the congregation
Some reviled him
     but he persisted
with his writings, with his
   teachings
A blessing for his memory
    should be spoken
         by those who have survived
