Quizzical mind, hemmed in by thought,
grips us in a remorseless bind,
serving no purpose, for we’re blind,
spiralling in a narrow slot
whilst acclaiming we are self-taught.
What should we do to leave behind,
quizzical mind?
We can if we choose and we ought
shift to our heart, loving and kind,
with cravings of ego declined,
whence silence reduces to naught,
quizzical mind.

Of what use are gloves to fingers
that only understand mittens?
This quizzical query lingers
in my thoughts, applied to kittens.
These tiny balls of fluffy joy
roam unleashed, exploring their world.
And like an adorable toy,
each looks gorgeous, with its tail curled.
Yet, trying to teach them a trick
is a waste of time; that's so true.
And it is not because they're thick,
they just don't perform as dogs do.
Oblivious to my commands,
they both come and go as they wish.
And tend to ignore my demands
unless I'm refilling their dish.
They're accustomed to living free,
born strong-willed, and independent.
Yet, they choose to snuggle with me,
sharing a love; that's transcendent.

When I look around, I see sadness,
everyone seems so serious,
as if they've forgotten how to smile.
I don't see happiness
amongst those frowning faces;
and I haven't seen it for a while.
Strangers choose to remain strangers;
for friendliness evokes suspicion,
and receives a quizzical look.
There was a time when
folks greeted each other warmly;
and a friendly hand, offered, got shook.
Nowadays, emotions are expressed with emojis;
and, since feelings can be stored on a cloud,
far fewer friends talk or embrace today.
Humanity's caught in a world wide web,
spun by a technological spider;
and reality struggles to keep AI at bay.

Quiz your own fate
Just don't be late
Joy mellows cheer
Love lives here
Know your own needs
Spice your own feed
The way you see
Frames what will be
Quiz each bold ease
Let feelings please
Come to the light
Claim your calm sight

First
There is the need of hope
A desperation
There is the belief of hope
A manifestation
Then
There is the understanding of hope
A divination
Then there is the writing of hope
A salvation
Then there is the preaching of hope
A manipulation
Then there is the deriving of hope
A blasphemy
Then there is the raping of hope
A sinning-nation
Then there is the spreading of hope
A commercialization
Then there is the remembrance of hope
A realization
Then there is the questioning of hope
An inquiry
Then there is the discarding of hope
A mistake
Then comes the hopelessness of understanding
An irony
Then lies the realization of understanding
A comedy
Then comes the reintroduction of hope
A mischievous cycle
Then comes the substitution
An analysis
Here is the variable
An assessment
Hope is to religion, as oppression is to slavery
A simile
