The band John Lennon
formed, called The Quarrymen
played half skiffle and
half rock and roll.

Four years later in
nineteen sixty, the band
evolved into The Beatles
with five men lineup.

John, Paul, George, Stuart,
who died and Peter,
replaced by Ringo were
nicknamed The Fab Four.

Their arrival here sixty
years ago, this month
triggered cultural and musical
movement, the British Invasion.

(From Skiffle to Fame)

Quarrymen were a group
Quite good oldies do say
Quirky to the youth now
Quaint compared to these days.
Quoth Sir Paul McCartney
Quips John Lennon as well
Question’s metamorphosis.

Musical Shed

By day the quarrymen

The music band understand
6 long month's they must wait
till their next recording session

They won't play the ashes all summer
In the winter garden
With the shed at the bottom
Until the snow subsidies again

So pack away the grand piano
Bass drum
Guitars
And clarinet

Time to reflect
And begin writing
A new album
New song's for a new dawn

Once the shed is brought to life again
Music rising from the rafters
Instruments in backbeat unison

Singing and playing
We haven't seen the ashes all summer
The musical shed is back in business

Back to Liverpool again
The home of working class
Musical theater

Porthgain Harbour

This rusting chain is witness to an age
When slate was quarried from these ancient cliffs
And where one hundred quarrymen earned a wage.
This harbour, filled with steamboats, schooners, skiffs,
Became a hive of industry, back when
Demand for road-stone, roofing slates and bricks
Was at its peak, then never seen again.
In modern times it’s in the tourist mix;
From far and wide they come; their aim – “The Shed”—
A posh fish restaurant. Book in advance,
Secure your table, or disappointed
And hungry be, and float in fresh fish trance.
The smell of fish and chips wafts from the galley.
Move on, quick! Away! We dare not dally.

Paul met John twanging banjo, singing a medley
Awed at what he heard playing by The Quarrymen
Five became four struggling to reach a destiny
Boarding a plane on an eternal trip since then
