Pouncing on all that moves
Playfully mimicking all we do
Purposely frolicking and care-free
Pretending to mind, but only for food
Panting for all your attention
Protesting by squeals and barks
Purporting to have our hearts

It's straightforward enough to be the Cheshire Cat grinning.
A stroll in the park to smile when you're winning.
But when you find yourself irked and cursing the weather.
You're unconsciously encompassed by the Fundamental Attribution Error.
A theory purporting it's mostly all luck.
Like getting that pay rise, or our wedding ring stuck.
Carefully eluding unnecessary confrontation and hate.
Then declaring a million and one times you don't exaggerate.
Attempts to train the mind not to be bitter or pious.
A desperate evasion of this confirmation bias.
Blaming others for misfortune and ourselves for the good.
A rephrasing of stereotypes to see things as we should.
Whilst rejoicing achievements is admirable and just.
Take a second to pause, exhale, reflect if you must.
Content to live in the moment. This moment right here.
With freedom of cognition. With our mental pathways clear.
To be kind, where possible, in all circumstances.
A non-judgemental stranger throwing uplifting glances.

Empty promises waft effortlessly through the air
The vacuous bleating of self-important bloviators,
Who claim the best interests of the noble citizenry
Uppermost in their clever, plotting minds who dare
To seek approval from the greater masses at the polls,
While thinly disguising their not-so-quixotic intentions.
Such troublesome breaches in the breastwork
Of liberty, these mischievous self-indulgent trolls
Who feed from the public troughs. Even better,
They claim to do what is right for their constituencies,
And call themselves names like honorable civil servant
Purporting to faithfully execute oaths to the letter
Of the law. I think such is seldom the case, at all, since
They have made for themselves careers of chicanery.
Empty promises -- no more than carefully crafted lies
Cause the skeptical, intelligent folk to wince.

The emblem of my sovereignty,
A dagger through a heart.
The sovereignty of incarceration,
A flight over an aery dell.
The incarceration is as a royal charter
In the fidelity of a vendetta.
At noonday, the words purporting
A coarse tumult of the local milieu,
In the sea of ethereal bitterness.
And, there is no one more to impress!
If but some pallid fairy would reach,
For the cavern missed by the dagger,
If but some grey wolf would save me,
From this agony in the pavilion of orbs,
Then as avenged as a lonesome beggar
I’d dare to plot a different course.
If but some fate trader would put hope
On the beam scale to judge a chance,
If but the One could say yes to me
I would tango for two, or any dance.

The Book
When my visions and sounds escape
To that quiet place
And all the collisions of the day
Stray away
My body can consume the every word
For, nothing is blurred
Purporting into another adventure and land
And my mind is placed in anothers hand
The teller is my guide
With the nightlight by my side
Seeking quests to only be told
By the book that lies under my nose....
