autumn lingers unfinished
though cold drops november
rain and waits undiminished
'til native summer sun remembers
what could unmake
when days full ache
bloom autumn colors
quick winter all borders
golds greens yellows
reds purples browns
a rusted rainbow frowns
as leaves scoot over meadows
fallen from mountain forest
after fields have given harvest
a father of one teaches his son.
chase catching leaves for fun
they twist turn swivel pirouette
lunge leap slide slice 'til earth is whet
while boy staggers with arms stretched
missing while dad knows misdirect fetched
two and three leaves while son fustrated
cries to quit but egged on infuriated
at last by chance or by experience
claps and traps one in victory dance

this stained-glass sky was created by a master painter
dominated by azures, purples, lavenders, fuchsia, plums
toward the bottom of the sky was a bit of dull yellow
a sliver of green also reflected in the pond
tall skinny black shrub trees surrounded this magnificence
I began designing my stained-glass cathedral window
knowing I could never do this scene the justice it deserved

wonder alicorn Alister flew into my garden on a Thursday night
I had been lonesome, so seeing her was a terrific sight.
In jewel tones of purples, lavenders and turquoise too.
Hey! She said to me, let’s be great friends, if it’s okay with you.
Where did you get your name, I asked Alister, as she landed on a rock.
It was the name of a truly wonderful fiancé’ of my favorite Uncle Brock.
He drove my mother to the alicorn hospital because my daddy was away.
She immediately named me Alister, to honor his lost sweetheart that day.
I have always felt that his love, Alister has been watching me from heaven.
Have seen her materialize a few times since I was six or seven.
She taught that I need to be kind and spread the world with love every day.
And that is what I intend to do to you, in every single alicorn-like way.
That is the day I began to believe in myself and gathered confidence galore.
Alister, the alicorn stayed around and guided me until I was twenty-four.
Then she had to fly back to Imagination Land to help another child.
She was empathetic and wonderful, kind and never very wild.

Meadow of clustered flowers
fragrant bouquets of petals
pinks purples yellows whites
~ a delightful extravaganza
Spreading their joy like tentacles
they entice butterflies and bees
while the sun keeps busy
caressing this wild ageless garden

I like my fungi
sauteed in butter
in a pan with a chopped clove
of garlic, parsley and plenty
of salt and pepper.
Or sliced and simmered
in chicken stock
with arborio rice
and topped with parmesan
cheese in a creamy
mushroom risotto.
I like the musty,
earthy smell
that some fungi have,
the exquisite delicacy
of the gills,
the soft, spongy feel,
the variety of shapes
and colours that range
across a pallet
of grays, yellows,
pinks and purples
through to a bleed
of vibrant reds.
Fungi feed
the senses.
But most spectacular
of all is the fungi
that hides beneath my feet
in a buried network
of fibres thinner
than a human hair,
connecting a forest
in one enormous web
carrying nutrients
to hungry roots
and the secret language
of trees. Poetry
is like fungi.

Dragon was rainbow warrior’s cartooning muse
She bought swirls of turquoise and purples to the canvases
Rainbow warrior was fiery and fierce like her muse
Together they were the storm

Spring Prism
Prisms leap
From the wombs of raindrops
Born on bits of sunshine
Spring kaleidoscope
In flowing ribbons,
A floral bouquet
Joined then translated into
Flames of crimson roses
Beams of orange tulips
And rays of new chartreuse leaves
Beacons of pale bluebells
Purples shafts of hyacinth and lilacs
When color trickles into a sunbow
Like springs released
Bursting into a fountain of rainbows –
Light wakes hibernating hues of shadows.

Arranged by their color, the tulips await
Every camera phone holder to stop
And capture in photos the dazzling array,
All varieties planted to pop:
The lipstick-bright reds and magentas and rose,
The velvet-like purples and types
Like the traffic-light yellows, the whites edged with pink
And some two-tones with contrasting stripes.
There were daffodils, too, and some blossoming trees,
All this gorgeousness out on display
In a park near my home with no airport involved –
Just a lovely walk taken today.

Colors now shimmer in golden, backlit mist
where blue hydrangeas and red roses coexist
Purples and oranges adore a fresh morning.
Flighty trouble has, at last, gone away, riled
Since the mellow hour, my sunshine smiled
The green and pink birds are finally soaring!
Naturally, nature must love beauty so much
To shower flowers with silver, gold and such
Does pearly dew, gladden all of nature, too?

Three adventuresome triplets were challenging the forest of the fey
When the sky turned to night, and the regular colors turned away.
A psychedelic hue came upon everything they saw including them.
Neon purples and turquoises changed every mushroom leaf and limb.
There she is, said Weewee, the leader of the triplet three.
Indeed, she was, right in front of them, the Goddess Missy Mee.
In the form of a giant jellyfish, as promised by the prophecy.
It is as the soothsayer told us, said Weewee’s sister Twee.
Their brother Bart was terrified, he hid his eyes under his cloak.
They were overcome with snickering from an overbearing oak.
It’s not nice to make fun of people, Weewee said to the tree.
I was laughing at something else he said, “Please excuse me.”
Goddess Missy Mee gave them some ideas, put them into their head.
Let them wander around, thinking about them, before they went to bed.
Utilized these ideas when they grew up, converted others thoughts too.
Many journeyed out here to see Missy Mee, I was one of ninety-two.

I've got it hard for you - a heart for you
A singsongy version of your hidden truth
A multi-coloured paint on an artist's wooden easel
Screaming life into the canvas - with royal upheaval
Mixing the multi-coloured paint with all your salty tears
Wallowing and waiting in the dampest part of all your fears
Oranges, yellows, blues, greens - murder it with your color
Make a masterpiece - nothing like another
Pour your anger, rage, insignificance, and shame on blast
Make a masterpiece worth no amount of cash
Curse it, cuss it, tell it "bless your heart"
Tear it up with streams of colour - rip it all apart
Add numbers significant and sentimental to you
Pinks, purples, reds, aquamarine, and light blue
Stand and cry as you watch the colours in your canvas drip drop
Down the canvas of emotion - bottom to the top
Side to side they blend as you begin to calm
A glorious, original, empathetic artist - be strong
You've got this beautiful soul - we can do it together
Birds of a feather flock similar emotions together forever
