On The Payroll of Hillburn City New Mexico
David J Walker
Imagine
That such a lonely city
Ever existed
Placed in the middle
of two nowhere
Not worth mentioning
A single building
The gathering spot for
Farmers wives far too
Busy to drive
to either of
the distant small towns for
Coffee,
Cigarettes
Milk and bread
Old cold cuts
Maybe out of date
And the daily mail
In your post office box
In the back
The newspaper from Lubbock
In the rack
Came yesterday and was
A day late at that
Not that it matters
In a jurisdiction
Where you must
pump your own gas
and then ask
about the latest gossip
from the Constable,
Mayor, & Postmaster, and
The only
And lonely
Working citizen on the Payroll
of Hillburn City

Postmaster DeJoy has a goal
Called The USPS Black Hole
One little flame
No one to blame
And your mail moves faster than coal . . .

Trump Disaster and Postmaster
We discovered Trump did have a disaster,
Then had to take it out on the postmaster;
Each stamp,
Did revamp;
Recovered crime they put into the plaster.

Power of the Tongue
The tongue we know not
Is a good receptionist
But a poor postmaster
Though cold and wet
Full of fire and smoke it is
It sets ablaze the Savanna,
Forests and the Sahara
It destroys love-birds’ nests
And all is ashes

Albert Daniels closed his eyes and he died.
He was a good man and that can't be denied.
He passed away Monday night.
He went to Heaven after entering the light.
He was a Postmaster and he ran a General Store twice.
He was in his eighties and there's no doubt he was nice.
He and my dad started a business but sadly it wasn't a success.
If you're wondering if people will miss him, the answer is yes.
(DEDICATED TO ALBERT DANIELS WHO DIED AUGUST 22, 2011.)

(This is a fictional poem)
Last week I received a letter that said I won a million dollar sweepstake.
I got so mad that I started to shake.
I know that the postal service can be slow.
But this letter was mailed to me twenty years ago.
I went to the post office to complain about this.
But believe it or not, they said it was good service.
They said that because of the postal service's inefficiency, I was lucky to get the
letter at all.
That pissed me off so I kicked the postmaster in the balls.
But that turned out to be a federal offense.
I was arrested and now I'm facing a lengthy prison sentence.
Now I will rot in jail.
All because of the inefficiency of the mail.
