Premium MemberI Found Someone To Love Today

* Inspired by the Joni Mitchell song - Tin Angel
** My first pantoum

I found someone to love today
Her firefly eyes light up a room
In dreams I heard an angel say
Her sunshine smile makes flowers bloom

Her firefly eyes light up a room
Where shadows scream and devils haunt
Her sunshine smile makes flowers bloom
In beds where weeds would tease and taunt

Where shadows scream and devils haunt
Red blood would drip from steely blade
In beds where weeds would tease and taunt
She'll no more cut nor be afraid

Red blood would drip from steely blade
But that was like, so yesterday
She'll no more cut nor be afraid
I found someone to love today-

ME

Reel

This is a feeling unlike any
Like poison in a fruit of scent,
With memories a tad too many,
All too bittersweet to give vent

Like poison in a fruit of scent,
Thoughts of school years pass by
All too bittersweet to give vent,
Or to let go without a cry

Thoughts of school years pass by,
A girl refuses to give up,
Or to let go without a cry,
The chances to be tuned up

A girl refuses to give up,
She loses, all too soon,
The chances to be tuned up,
Her fate's in a cocoon

She loses, all too soon,
Till today, for her mind's elsewhere
Her fate's in a cocoon,
She feels too few minutes to spare

Till today, for her mind's elsewhere,
The moments of the now flit
She feels too few minutes to spare
And nostalgia, they call it

The moments of the now flit,
With memories a tad too many,
And nostalgia, they call it,
This is a feeling unlike any

The kids are just fine
On this Wednesday eve
Our lives intertwine
Until one takes leave

On this Wednesday eve
We huddle in the waste
Until one takes leave
From this bombed-out place

They’re readied for school
Packed up for the day
Ballet class in tule
Then we hurry away

Packed up for the day
The evacuations begin
Then we hurry away
From the siren’s din

Distraught by expectations
Life’s daily demands
Guiding child’s aspirations
Mold their lives in our hands

Life’s daily demands
From missiles, we flee
Mold lives in our hands
As we dodge the debris

We discuss the whole day
Watch the news, sip our wine
In lands far away
We witness war’s crimes

Huddled in lost places
We assess the whole day
Do they hear us, or see us, or know us
In lands far away?

Autumn Untold Story

AUTUMN UNTOLD STORY

Sense the tiny bite of crispness in the air
September ends and school again begins
Crows on the telegraph lines just stare
The old guy at the corner leans and grins

September ends and school again begins
The parents’ Volvos wait to drop and go
The old guy at the corner leans and grins
For a reason that most will never know

The parents’ Volvos wait to drop and go
Kids with an emotional burden to carry
For a reason that most may never know
Walking past the man and never tarry

Kids with an emotional burden to carry
Not yet acute enough to raise concerns
Walking past the man and never tarry
The memory of that encounter burns

Hooray For October

Hooray For October

Pumpkin patches, Halloween,
Crunchy leaves of brown
Cool mornings, bond fires,
and the best haunted houses in town
Hooray for October

Fall festivals, cool nights,
pep rally's and football,
Breaks from school, ghost stories,
branch filled trees, and the beginning of fall
Hooray for October

Walks in the park, apple cider, the smell of pumpkin pie
Cuddling up next to a fireplace, trick or treating,
and the twinkle in a child's eye
Hooray for October

New Shoes - a French Pantoum

I got new shoes and style they don't lack.
But they fit oh so tight
and I think I should take them back.
My brother says they fit just right.

But they fit oh so tight
and I think they'll make a blister.
My brother says they fit just right.
He's just mean and doesn't like his little sister.

And I think they'll make a blister
when I walk to school today.
He's just mean and doesn't like his little sister
You'll see, later I'll make old smarty pay.

When I walk to school today,
I got new shoes and style they don't lack.
You'll see, later I'll make old smarty pay,
and I think I should take them back.

Angelina

In between the hill and mountain
Flows down so lovely a river
Gurgling giggling rippling fountain
Apples greet you go wherever

Flows down so lovely a river
She is little Angelina
Apples greet you go wherever
The mountains are Mark and Jena

She is little Angelina
Studies in the picturesque school
The mountains are Mark and Jena
Mark a plumber Jena weaves wool

Studies in the picturesque school
Her friends are Tom Eve and Nina
Mark a plumber Jena weaves wool
Near a lake in Argentina

Her friends are Tom Eve and Nina
Their common friends are sun and rain
Near a lake in Argentina
With larks and lilies make quatrain

Their common friends are sun and rain
Gurgling giggling rippling fountain
With larks and lilies make quatrain
In between the hill and mountain

When School Is Finally Over

Love will come a calling
As autumn shades are turning
While auburn leaves are falling
The joys of love start burning
As autumn shades are turning
I'll end my college learning
The joys of love start burning
When time stops slowly crawling
I'll end my college learning
While auburn leaves are falling
When time stops slowly crawling
Love will come a calling.

Jimmy Waters was quite a precocious young man
School marm a mentor who understands
Parents who love him to them he is grand
In the inner city not totally safe

School marm a mentor who understands
Jimmy gunned down by those who are mean
In the inner city not totally safe
He goes threw the ghetto to get to her place

(Story loosely interpertative from It's Supernatural about a family who had one son born late
in life and this young man would visit an elderly school teacher eveyday and help her with
things she needed done and she encouraged him to read poetry and fine writers. He was
gunned down one day and he appeared to her one day when she needed someone.)

Childhood

Memories of an innocent child

Days of play and running wild

Soft green grass tickles small bare feet

Racing through the weeds so fast and fleet

Laughing, giggling just having fun

Dancing beneath a golden sun

Joyful voices raised in glee

Brother and sisters surrounding me

Another summer game has begun.

Carefree childhood days and sleepy, moonlit nights

Catching grasshoppers and chasing fireflies lights

Laying in the warm sweet grass

Making pictures in the clouds that pass

Far away from cares and frights.

Summers weather soft and mild.

Lessons learned in summer, far away from school

Where to find a mushroom or a trout in a cool, deep pool

Constellations in the nights dark sky

Did Daddy ever tire of hearing "why"?

Worn out at night, we laughed like fools

The exhausted, slept until the new warm sun opened our eyes.

Long-suffering shattered the window’s streaked pane
Tongue snapped like rubber band stretched beyond hell
Deep shards of blood pressure, jagged terrain
Fingernails screeching down slate boarded cell

Tongue snapped like rubber band stretched beyond hell
Cat-o’-nine-tails lashing words into gashes
Fingernails screeching down slate boarded cell
Sunday school lessons reduced to ashes

Cat-o’-nine-tails lashing words into gashes
Razor sharp chaos impervious to shame
Sunday school lessons reduced to ashes
Virtue out shadowed by rage's bright flame
