Artificial Humans

Weird world evolves,
Weird creatures
Wired to gadgets
Evolve.

They articulate
And gesticulate.
They giggle
And tread
On the trajectories of living.

Their brains brim
With artificial intelligence,
They act like humans.
They are
The artificial humans.

Technology savvy humans
Reconstruct our humanity,
The religionists
Resign to the new humanity,
The ethicists
Seek to etch
Unethical on our minds.

The elasticity of our civilization
Stretches
And stretches,
Our civilization overstretched.

Years to come,
Our civilization
Overstretched,
Will snap.

The Walls

Read the room,
Its paintings and inscriptions,
Read the room,
The volume of its expressions,
Read the room,
The doors to many unspoken words,
Read the room,
The thoughts veiled in the
minds of its craftsmen,
Read the room,
The scenes pencilled in the
hearts of the draughtsmen,
Modern art,
Variation from the norm,
Journey into the complexities of an evolving world,
Sojourn into an overstretched empire.

Dimples

Sit still, XXri Brook
Dimples, smile, light
Too much for the heavy flight
Of a daydream, happening
Across from my mother’s anxious look
Is my reason in a book?
Maybe another book
Buried in my room
Me, no doors, nor nook
Dimples overstretched, still deep
I hide beneath a sheet
'Till the sun comes back
I’m counting down from 3
But by 1, they turn to holes
No dimples in the mould
Of the shelter from this tree
Overgrown, still underfed
My father decomposes beneath
Scratching me down
Where I break reality
The garden will pull me back
And I know it isn’t far
But backwards rolls between
As I’m running towards a sun
No one else can see

Collection of Covid 19 Poems

Forbidden Fruit

Wild bat hanging from a tree
Wings curled around furry body.
Sleeping soundly, nose twitches
Net captured, frightened creature.

Hot steaming Chinese market
Exotic animals everywhere.
Herbal medicine, cultural difference
Healing, treatments for illnesses.

One moment in time.
Eaten the forbidden fruit
Coughing, high temperature
Hospital death follows quickly.

Virus

Bad blood circulating
Body exhausted, fighting back.
Breathing hard, lungs hurt
Oxygen stable, under attack.

People to people human touch
Droplets infected moving around.
Hosts unaware of silent death
Travel bans, society clampdown.

Lockdown

Numbers increasing, scared panic
Supermarkets shelves emptied.
Self-isolation, loneliness
Anxiety, stress, depression.

Community unites, help needed
NHS support people cheer.
Financial crash, business closed
Jobs lost, families struggle.

Vaccines

Vacant beds refilling fast.
Acute wards overstretched.
Coronavirus spreading quickly.
Cannot contain the disease.
Inventive research needed.
Now the time for a vaccine.
Emergency funds available.
Signs are hopeful for the future.

Lost

I feel my head expanding
Exploding…
In trenches of darkness
That I do not see
Nor understand

I feel frustrations
Cover me like thorny vines
Yet I cannot make them out
I feel suffocated
Overstretched…
And compressed

I want to scream…
At what…
For what…
If only I should know
Then perhaps I should find some peace

Yet the lines are drawing thin
And the strings have tears
The music is silent
The words are blunt
And I am like a plant in this place of confusion
Trying to uproot myself

This place is murky
These feelings are muddy
This voice is strained

And I wonder…
When will I see the light again.

CHEERY 2

Weathered wood bench
Old as us two;
Hardy as teak

~~~~~~~~~
On this trip
Make ends meet;
Garage sales
~~~~~~~~~

Joy seeds enough
No need for stuff;
Just call the bluff

~~~~~~~~~
Just two old souls
In brief posture;
Human nature knows
~~~~~~~~~

Cheery in grief
Joy fills the brief;
Small talk punctuates

~~~~~~~~~
Wednesday cascades
New mystery floats;
Touch of morning light
~~~~~~~~~

Morning Glory flowers
Temporary respite;
Hazy sun floats

~~~~~~~~~
Laughter and glee
Children frolic;
Playtime melodies
~~~~~~~~~

Chinese pugilists
Martial arts dancing;
Crafty moves delight

~~~~~~~~~
Stillness permeates
Silence glowing;
Calm quiet creates
~~~~~~~~~

Grocery shopping spree
So much to carry;
Overstretched arms

~~~~~~~~~
TV conversations
Meal time indulgence;
Sitcom fantasies
~~~~~~~~~

Close Enough

Closer to the clouds
Soaring through the soft misty flocks of vapour
Higher
Touching the overstretched never ending horizons
Stronger
Closer to the clouds
Reaching for the elusive galaxy scattered with stars
Wiser.

Metempirical
Scenes
Outside my window, birds perched on window panes
Breathing the hopes of life
Burying their worries, letting them go
Soaring away the pains of yesterday
Home
The distance reassures me of the longer road I have
Waiting working of what might come
Relieving the old alleys
Streets that left me hanging, roaming
Stranded with loneliness

Pause
Break from the fast pace of life
Dive into total surrender
Break from our shallow life filled with plans
The never ending ambitious dreams
Capturing each moment, not giving any a miss

Forgotten
The small sentiments
The simple notions
The innocent thoughts
And the crazy bedlams
Unfortunate
Life
Thrive, we will.

My First Love 1st Prize Award Wining Poem African Love For All Awards

My first love
is a whore

but i want her back
because she always had my back

when everyone
threw me back, barked, nagged disappeared
continuously on me

just because,
i try and cry to make them understand how i feel
about them

My first love
is a whore

but i want her back
because the love apple, love bite, and her loving
kindness,
makes me lovesick,
and unloved to other love birds, that promiscuously
convey my way,
to convict my heart.

My first love
Is a whore

But I want her back
because she has not false me
but she has inherently taken me the way I am

So I am also readily convinced
to take her the way she is
into my love life

My first love
Is a whore

But I want her back
for I now known
that those whom I took as the goal keepers of my
life 'my friends'

Imprisoned my affections for my first love,
overstretched my suspicion,
and tore my first love's glossy fondness, into
unscrupulous odiousness

My first love
Is a whore

but I will become a fishmonger
Just to fishnet her back into my life,

because I truly want back my first love
even if she is going to come back without her love,
but with her heart

that will serve
Just to see and be with her again

Jungle Ambush

crouch low, as tiger
                                                    in the bush,
                                          in the enemies' hearts
                                                      sow fear,
                                          keep them threatened
                                                  by an ambush
                                         that could hit them hard,
                                                    front or rear;
                                       for every strategy of attack
                                             can surely be most
                                                       versatile
                                when lines of defense prove to be
                                          overstretched and thus,
                                                    most fragile.

Familiar Strangers

been a long time, so far away,
  their smile hollow, mirth shallow,
    they try, but they're no longer one,
      well, so he thinks, and so does she;

they fidget, they anticipate,
  strangers now to their own silence,
    awkward, silently embarrassed
      by what they feel as urgent need

to just say or mumble something,
  just anything at all to burst
    this bubble, to fill this vacuum
      of overstretched anxiety;

something's just not there anymore,
  blown away by the winds of years,
    wonder what to do or say next,
      then goodbye, then a feigned regret

and promises to keep in touch
  that they both know they'll never keep,
    but for now, farewell is relief,
      from the ache of strangers' unease !
